smitty46953 03-17-2021 02:57 PM

We need a LT, Edge, CB, WR and we have zero depth in both the lines. Yes we have extensions coming, but we could have easily filled some holes with the 1 yr contracts being signed. John Brown for example

Not enough picks to fill all these spots

:cool:

Rhodes, Houston, Hilton, Carrie, and Muhammad should all probably be re-signed along with some OL depth pieces. Don't want see Charles Green or LaRaven Clark again.

That's the second time the Colts haven't gone after Brown and he's signed a reasonable deal elsewhere.

He will not see all six years, making a lot of dead money at the end. That is what I call an overpay.

You can't argue with it. Mack should've gotten way more than that on the open market.

Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo

Haason Reddick gets $8 million max with $6 million guaranteed to head to the #Panthers and rejoin his college coach at Temple Matt Rhule

:cool:

Add this one to the John Brown disappointment, we could easily have done both and filled areas of need

The #Raiders are signing DL Solomon Thomas to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, per source. A new home for Thomas, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 draft who’s still only 25.

Ballard might be outthinking himself now. In another post, I stated that so far we have only gotten worse by losing Autry and gaining nothing. Ballard may just be getting a little too frugal now. There are holes to fill on this team and the players to do it are dwindling down to nothing. Maybe CB has some sort of Master Plan, we shall see!

Has one career sack against Jags, Minshew tripped and fell down and Brown touched him first.

We have had a great off season. We have a QB. That was #1 problem. We are in good shape people. Every team as holes. I’m with everyone who is worried about the pass rush. Most teams have this issue. I have no idea what Ballard plans to do about it. He obviously understands this as well as any of us.

Its been good IMO. Like you said, getting the QB set was huge. since we have known about that for a while its not the splash moment that we see other teams making, which affects peoples perception of not doing anything in FA. I am glad ballard sticks to his process for the most part and didnt spend stupidly. but...I was wanting one 'big' acquisition, particularly impact on DL. Lawson or Okwara. Then hit LT with the first pick. With the cap room we have and the expectation the cap will jump next year I think we could have done it. We'll see what comes after this initial FA surge is done and hopefully more cap cuts happen.

According to Spotrac this morning:

Available 2021 cap space to spend on free agents (not counting what is needed to sign draft class, practice squad, etc):

NYJ = $47m
JAX = $36m
IND = $33m
LAC = $27m
CAR = $25m
DEN = $22m
NE = $21m
KC = $19m
TEN = $17m
MIA = $16m

Total across all 32 teams = ~ $340m

Still lots of free agents available with dwindling cap space to do so.

CB:
Richard Sherman
Desmond King
Adoree' Jackson
Janoris Jenkins
Malcom Butler
Troy Hill
Xavier Rhodes
Patrick Peterson

WR:
Kenny Golladay
Will Fuller
JuJu Smith-Schuster
Antonio Brown
T.Y. Hilton
Curtis Samuel
Sammy Watkins

LOT:
Russel Okung
Alejandro Villaneuva
Riley Reiff
Bobby Massie

DE:
Jadeveon Clowney
Carl Lawson
Melvin Ingram
Bud Dupree
Aldon Smith
Carlos Dunlap

And heck, my guess is that there are a ton of names on Ballard's and the scouts list that are not seen above.

Buck up, Freaks! There is still A LOT of time in free agency to get better and fill holes.

Bobby Massie is not a LT, but replace his name with Eric Fisher's and the list looks better. My only concern at this point is DE. Not much left there.

The Bears needed to free up some cap space to sign Dalton and other free agents, so they are releasing CB Kyle Fuller.

Quote:

The Bears are releasing veteran CB Kyle Fuller, sources say, a cap casualty. In a tough 2021 offseason, this is Chicago’s only cut due to cap space. A former All-Pro corner now hits the market.
https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1372688718771974145

With a salary cap hit of $20M, this was always a possibility. Now, reality. Kyle Fuller immediately becomes one of the top free agents available.

One position I know the Colts are looking to fill in free agency and likely will in the coming days/week: the backup tackle spot. It got ugly at the end of the year and needs to be addressed. A few names to remember: Roderick Johnson, Julie'n Davenport, Jason Spriggs.
https://twitter.com/FieldYates/statu...70690084728835

The Colts hosted former Texans and Dolphins OT Julie'n Davenport on a free agent visit.

Indy has a hole at left tackle following Anthony Castonzo's retirement and Davenport could be a possible depth option.

Interesting stat chart located here from 2017 when he was drafted in the 7th round.

Was listed as a DT so his 280 weight was really low. Not so much as a DE.

Really athletic with high broad jump (93%), vertical jump (71%) and dash (93%) numbers. Really low arm length (31%) and hand size (35%) numbers.

74 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 9 TLF, 10 QB hits in past 3 seasons.

Those are comparable with Muhammad's stats over the past 3 seasons of 79 tackles, 5.0 sacks, 15 TFL, 17 QB hits.

Both Muhammad and Rochell will be 26 for the 2021 season.

Fine DE depth for a season.

Totally agree. So far the Titans got better, and all we accomplished is losing Autry. Top 5 in cap space and we haven't signed anyone who I consider an upgrade anywhere.
