Anyway back to Nelson. I wanted Chubb, but with him gone I was resigned to it. I am happy he is doing well and seems like he will a good player. But oline is only as good as your weakest link. Still, spending high draft picks on oline May be the future of the league, especially with the seeming decline of oline play overall.

Heard an NFL O-Line coach after this year's draft say that they only had 9 NFL ready O-Linemen on their board. Too many "blur" and gimmick offenses in college. Most cannot come into the league and be expected to start in year one.

Makes it harder to find those guys who can be taught NFL style blocking.

Mark my words, Mahomes is going to be a stud.

Mahomes with 6 td passes today against the Rapistbirgers.

Crazy, that team is stacked on offense

I'm a novice in that I rarely focus on the line play, but that is supposedly how the pro's watch the game. Anyway, the only highlight I saw involving Nelson was when Clark got beat around the end. Look to the guy next to Clark--Nelson--and he's just mauling his man. Good job, rookie.

Crazy good, but defenses are going to catch up on him the more tape they have. That Andy Reid offense is impressive. They always seem to fade in the playoffs though.

He's doing his job well based on that film (though that's just highlights), but he's still not the level of impact player that you want from a top-10 pick ...... in the first play of that video, Jordan Wilkins erased all of Quenton Nelson's great work by not running between Braden Smith and Joe Haeg into the end-zone, as an example.

We added a guy who is huge, strong as the freaking proverbial bull, extremely quick with incredible balance, and a great football IQ. He has an attitude and the physical skills to back it up. I must have missed all those pancake blocks that we made last year, so seeing Nelson just drill the shit out of someone or stonewall them like a brick wall gives me fuzzies. I’m not saying that he’s an all-pro now, but after one game he sure as hell hasn’t done a damn thing to make me think that he can’t be one. Watching him develop (and hopefully bring the line along with him) should be one of the high points of all us Freaks this year, regardless of where he was picked ...... it's gonna be fun.

(7 YEARS LATER)

Quentin Nelson has been one of the most consistent and reliable offensive lineman in Colts franchise history (1953 - 2025) ...... in 8 seasons he has made 8 straight Pro Bowls, and has missed a grand total of 4 games (he has played in 129 out of 133 games between the 2018 and 2025 seasons.)

There is a good argument for not taking a guard in the top 10. Because of not only who Nelson is but what our line was at the time it is hard to criticize this pick. The man has been well worth the number 6 pick.

I agree.

If you need a protein shake, you buy a blender.

If you need toast, you buy a toaster.

If you need an offensive lineman, you draft a guard or a tackle.

Not only that, but he's learned to be a leader as the elder statesman of the OLine. He sets the culture and the standard.

Am I the only person who doesn't care about this guy anymore? Probably
