Steichen might be ok if he had a QB who was accurate at all, but he definitely looks clueless on helping AR out. 3rd and 3 from your own ~10. AR has gone 2/14 in the first half and just threw a pass that should have been picked. So he calls up empty backfield w/ a timing route over the middle. Absolutely horrible play calling.

As poorly as AR played, I blame the play calling to close out the 1st half for this loss. 59 seconds left, you're on the 5 yard line, (90fucking5 yards away) scheduled to start the 2nd half getting the ball and you don't just run, run, run? This idiotic play calling cost the Colts 7 points. Your QB is passing like shit and you decide he might pull off a drive of at least 60 yards so you can try a FG? There's still hope AR can overcome his youthful ignorance, but whoever called the plays down the 1st half stretch should have is balls removed.

Yeah, Richardson was 10 of 32, but he wasn’t wildly off the mark. A lot of his passes were either knocked down by a DB or dropped. On others, the pass was on the mark, but coverage was tight. I only counted a few throws that were badly throw, but that’s par for the course in the NFL.

Today, I hardly ever saw a pass that sailed high over the receivers head or was way off target, long or short. In other words, I saw progress.

I have to rewatch OL to see for sure how everyone did, but I'm not claiming they played great or handwaving Nelson's penalties.

But bringing that up is like having a burning house and pointing out the lawn needs to be mowed.

2/15 in the first half, 8/17 (47%) being the good half... Everything looks worse with that performance.

And still it was a 3-point loss, not 52-14 like the Lions did to the Titans.

No doubt. Like I said, horrible play calling. Make no mistake Steichen is handcuffed w/ horrible QB play right now, but he's definitely not doing AR any favors w/ his play calling. As others stated earlier in the thread (and plenty of other times) Steichen needs to play call to AR's strengths rather than keep trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I blame the offensive line and Steichen the most. This overpaid OLine didn't pass block worth a shit all day and Q with a shitload of penalties. Steichen's ignoramus play calling at the end of the 1st half in inexcusable. Knowing only bad things could happen and it did. It was just unfucking unbelievably stupid.

I would say it's more like saying your garage is on fire too. Granted the OL has played well this year, but they definitely didn't today. Our 3 and out after Dayo's fumble was all b/c of the OL, and AR couldn't even get off a hail mary at the end b/c of the DL pressure. And a lot of AR's throws in the 2nd half were off b/c of DL pressure. Although as bad as he was today those throws may have been off anyway.

Looking like Steichen is way over his head.

Steichen is weird. He seems, for whatever reason, to be just fine having 2 incompletions and 3rd and 10 and in a damn near impossible position to convert. But he seems to HATE the concept of running twice and having 3rd and 4 which is converted at a much more frequent rate because of how many options are available on the play sheet at that point.

The one thing we have all seen with JT- he is a trust the process back. He will have 6-8-10 straight runs for 1,2,3 yards, and then he will fucking house it. Then, he is a fucking monster just gobbling up 12-20 yarders after that.

Steichen just cannot seem to allow that pattern with JT for whatever the fuck the reason is.

Starting to think he is way too similar to Reich in that he wants have a lot of the attention focused on him, how inventive, how creative he is vs just doing the right things to win fucking games!

I made this last season just trying to be funny, but maybe it was more accurate than I thought, especially in the red zone, it's almost like Reich is still calling the plays!

I am sick of the Colts losing to the Texans and the Jaguars....it's like we are the Washington Generals for these teams, I keep waiting for Trevor Lawrence or CJ Stroud to run over to Steichen and hit him in the face with a whipped cream pie!
