Fans who understand the game know the injury has affected our options at offensive play-calling. Stat-watchers (and Giants fans) say he is reverting to his norm.

He won't sign a franchise tag, unless he really loves the Colts organization, fans and community.

He will get offered a multi year deal elsewhere. He will in all likelihood get offers from the Cardinals, Steelers, Raiders and Jests.

Then, what are our options if we lose him? Give the man 40 million a year and cal it a day.

You think he'd sit out a year if tagged?

I get that but part of his norm has been being injured. Only one season so far not missing games due to injury. This may be season 2 of not missing games but injury has affected his play.

With a tag being worth an estimated 46.1 million next year he will play here if tagged and probably not be to unhappy.

If he's franchised he doesn't get a choice, does he?

He has the choice to not sign. That is an equally bad choice for both parties in this case. Then it becomes who flinches first. Why build the ill will?

If you don't believe in something, then you believe in nothing. If the Colts don't believe in Jones, then move on. If they do then sign the dude to the contract that is his market value.

Bottom line I do not see Carlie approving of franchising.

I think so, too.

But I also believe that short-term, the Colts could be headed for disaster down the stretch of this 2025 season, largely because of Jones' broken fibula.

Long-term, I think that both Daniel Jones and the Colts will be fine ...... I think that they are for real for the first times since the 2020 Philip Rivers season.

I'm concerned about the 2025 season ...... I'm not particularly concerned about 2026 and beyond, because I'm confident that the Colts will likely be perennial contenders.

If he's franchised and doesn't sign it, he must sit out the whole year. He can't just sign with another team, that's the purpose of the franchise tag. His salary for the one franchise year would be in excess of 40 million, it just wouldn't be for multiple years.

In 1967, the NCAA outlawed dunking the basketball, primarily to try to offset the dominance of UCLA's Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.)

So, with a major part of his game taken away, how did Alcindor/Jabbar react to his style being cramped by this new rule ??? He added a now legendary shot to his arsenal, known as "The Sky Hook." If the NCAA had not banned dunking the ball in the first place, Alcindor/Jabbar may never have developed the now fabled sky-hook shot in the 2nd place.

And then along came Jones ...... almost 60 years later, a mobile quarterback by the name of Daniel Jones was signed as a free agent by our beloved Indianapolis Colts. In the first 10 games of the season, Jones and his Colts stormed out to an 8-2 start with Jones having what is by far the best season of his 7-year NFL career. But then, the mobile Jones had his mobility taken away with a broken fibula.

So in their last 2 games, the Colts lost heartbreaking nail-biters to the Chiefs and the Texans. And while Jones' lack of mobility certainly was a factor in those losses, another part of his game actually improved ...... his turnovers. In particular, his fumbling. In the first 10 games of the season, Jones' one glaring weakness in an otherwise excellent season was his tendency to fumble. Jones fumbled the ball 8 times in the first 10 games of the season, with 6 of those 8 fumbles resulting in turnovers. In his last 2 games, the hobbled Jones had 0 turnovers, and he recovered his own lone fumble.

So ...... is there a correlation between Jones' hampered mobility and his ability to secure the ball better ??? As was the case when Alcindor/Jabbar developed his famous sky-hook shot after having another part of his game taken away by a rule change, will Daniel Jones' broken leg wind up actually helping him in the long run with the one glaring weakness that he has had for his entire career, dating back to his rookie season with the Giants when he led the NFL with 19 fumbles in only 13 games ??? Time will tell.

Well, Jones is now under contract with the Colts for 2 more seasons (2026 and 2027), so I guess we'll find out how things will go one way or the other.
