I have. He is not elite. He is very good and unbelievable athletically. He is not worth $250 mil. This kind of salary to anyone will cripple this teams ability to field a truly competitive contender.

You're right about that. And that record is impressive. The issue, though, is that the Ravens are also 3-9 over two seasons when he's gone down at the end of the season with injuries. A dozen games in two seasons. Cost them seeding last year and helped take them from an 8-3 start to an 8-9 finish in 2021.

I don't even know if IND is interested in Jackson, but if they are, it's all about that guaranteed money. I would guess, if it's a monster $250m-ish contract, that IND would be more in the range of guaranteeing half that.

No point in negotiating Baltimore's contract for them, which is essentially what that would be doing. Unfortunately poison pills aren't allowed anymore or the Colts could put in a Hutchinson-like clause that states something like "If 4 or more team games are played in the state of Maryland in any year of this contract, all money in the contract becomes guaranteed."

Yeah, I think whatever plan they might potentially have for Jackson wouldn't come to fruition until after the draft.

Steve Hutchinson, the Offensive Guard who signed the first poison pilled offer sheet in NFL history. Hutchinson played for the Seahawks and was transition tagged by them. The Minnesota Vikings signed him to an offer sheet that had a clause that stated that the contract would be fully guaranteed if he was not the highest paid OL on his team at the signing of the contract at a time when the Seahawks had Hall of Fame LT Walter Jones. Obviously this made the offer sheet unmatchable for Seattle, who then took revenge by signing Vikings RFA Nate Burleson to the last poison pilled contract in NFL history using the exact same length and value of contract with a clause that stated the contract would be fully guaranteed if Burleson played 5 or more games in the state of Minnesota in any year of the contract. As a result of this, upon the ratification of the 2011 CBA, poison pill clauses were banned.

So I guess I got the history wrong, and I should've said a Burleson-like clause. Still very interesting stuff.
