A free press is our frontline defense against corruption. Disparaging it and dismissing it only weakens that purpose. Turning towards smaller opinionated blogs and other sources with an obvious bias that is not fact checked and reinforced by the whole leads to ridiculous conspiracy theories and people storming farm feed stores for ivermectin paste.

Simply put, these right wing sites and blogs don’t usually fact check or have the resources to report on some things accurately. They aren’t usually interested in being truthful either and are more interested in pushing their beliefs. People should obviously fact check everything and don’t just accept one source of information. But turning towards small little hate blogs for info just puts you in a deeper silo.

This whole thing started because of a president who was so corrupt he had to undermine the media covering him so his voters wouldn’t listen to what they said about him. Thanks to decades of right wing radio and TV, and social media that just reinforces your beliefs, that was an easier thing to accomplish than it should have been.

Not having player vaccinated has already affected this team and its preparation. Nelson did not test positive for COVID. The only reason he cannot do any work with the Colts is he was in close proximity to an infected teammate. You only need to isolate after a contact if you are not vaccinated. It is just a matter of luck whether this season goes down the drain for non football reasons.

And don’t forget Obama’s extensive spying on and persecution of the press. It started long before Trump.

I agree that there is a big problem with the media in this country. But it’s not just a “right wing” media problem. It’s way bigger than that.

Further, the Titans are one of the most vaccinated teams, and they are also having issues.

Show me a left wing media source that encourages civil war and violence bc “the election was stolen”.

Left wing nuts aren’t storming the capital or parking their giant pickups next to federal buildings claiming they have bomb. It’s gotten ridiculous and right wing extremist violence is getting worse.

I remember left wing sites encouraging Hilary to contest the election results when Trump won. :shrug

I recall cities burning last summer while CNN called it “fiery but mostly peaceful demonstrations” in one of the most infamous moments of the whole year. And don’t forget Wapo’s “austere religious scholar” description of a terrorist because they didn’t like the fact that Trump killed him. I could keep going.

It’s not whataboutism, it’s the exact same thing.

Look, I don’t disagree that right wing sites are a problem. But left wing sites are just as bad.

It’s not as much a right or left wing problem as it is an entire media problem.
