Former Ravens LB CJ Mosley intends to sign a 5-year, $85 million deal with the Jets, as @RapSheet said. Jets land Anthony Barr and Mosley. |

Former Vikings’ DT Sheldon Richardson intends to sign a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns when free agency opens Wednesday, a source tells ESPN. Cleveland’s opening-day front four now expected to be DE Myles Garrett, DT Larry Ogunjobi, Richardson and DE Emmanuel Ogbah. |

Colts are out of the running for Chicago safety Adrian Amos, source says Sigh. I want to believe but... |

The #Packers are expected to bring in a huge addition, bringing in former #Ravens edge rusher Za'Darius Smith, sources say. They tried to trade for him a few years ago, are in prime position to sign him now. |

The #Packers aren’t done: They are also signing #Bears S Adrian Amos, sources say. Two big deals, two huge additions on D. A former rival comes to Green Bay. |

The Packers also are signing Preston Smith, according to a league source. Huge day for the Packers defense Well the Packers have finally ditched their conservative approach it appears. |
Quote:
@JosinaAnderson I'm told free agent LB Preston Smith is going to Green Bay on a 4-year deal worth $52M. $16M fully guaranteed at signing. Smith choices came down to the #Colts and the #Packers, per source. |

That is a very nice talent infusion into an aging Packers defense. However, that should about finish them off in free agency since they only started with around $20m that they could spend in free agency and THAT probably means that they are putting in big signing bonuses to spread the cap hits over future years. They don't get much cap relief by cutting veterans since it appears that they have been pushing money foward. Cutting TE Jimmy Graham would deliver $5.3m of cap relief while cutting DT Mike Daniels would deliver $8.3m. Otherwise, they care cutting starting OTs, LB Nick Perry or starting OC Corey Linsley. They are done in free agency except perhaps so VERY low level stuff. Walk Worthy, |
I'm just here to watch some people's disappointment at "losing" free agency when the team is going to win 12 games next year.

1) Draft 2) Develop We tend to focus on #1, but #2 is even more important. If the coaching staff can't develop Turay and Lewis into quality pass rushers, then that's a significant failure. Still, I expect Ballard to add another DL and DE high in the draft. If you can't get a pass rush with 4 1st/2nd round picks on the DL, then is the problem a lack of commitment of resources to the problem? |

I hope the second year guys develop bc it looks like they will be it and a lower tier FA. |
It's not overpaying, it's called making a deal.

@gmbremer
Interested to see if the #Colts kick the tires on Earl Thomas. Obviously, he's outside the scope of Ballard's usual moves. But at 29, he's unlikely to get an exorbitantly long deal, and there are several Seattle connections in the FO. https://twitter.com/gmbremer/status/...044446721?s=21 That would be interesting. Not gonna get my hopes up and I think he’d be a bit of a puzzling complement to Hooker, but I’ll take what I can get at this point. Would probably be a great mentor to Hooker as well. |
Not that I myself was particularly high on him but for those that have mentioned him:
@HolderStephen I know a lot of you have asked about Denver’s Shaquil Barrett as a possible option for the Colts. Checked into him and it sounds like the Colts view him as more of a 3-4 OLB. Doesn’t seem likely to land here. |

Would be a great mentor for Hooker, if Thomas is willing. |

Not now.....Barr pulled a McVisor and called off the Jets deal and is staying with Minnesota. He likes the Vikings and Minny increased their offer. https://twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/sta...10083931320329 https://twitter.com/AlbertBreer/stat...12330341814272 |

Former #49ers, #Cardinals and #Colts Safety Antoine Bethea will sign a 2-year deal with the #Giants, per @ReggieWayne_17 Bethea was originally a 6th round pick by the #Colts in 2006  |
Florio says the Colts are not pursuing Le’veon Bell.

I feel more confident we have coaches that can actually develop players unlike the last asshat.

And then I saw the contract. Let's say that they overpaid a little bit for him. By maybe 4.5 - 5 million a year. We're good with Ballard doing what he does. |
Jets fans must get really tired.
