Running the clock out. Trading back

ChaosTheory 04-25-2024 09:51 PM

Colts take Latu.

YDFL Commish 04-25-2024 09:52 PM

But Stricken was on the phone?

nate505 04-25-2024 09:54 PM

I'm not upset with Latu, as long as he is healthy.

Thorgrim 04-25-2024 09:54 PM

Fn bullshit

YDFL Commish 04-25-2024 09:54 PM

Finally a football player...not just an athlete!

TheMugwump 04-25-2024 09:55 PM

The trade offers must have been crap, because they likely could have had him at 21 or 22. And what about Turner or Verse?

Huh...curious.

Thorgrim 04-25-2024 09:57 PM

I really was hoping for a corner. Maybe even trade back and get some capital and get deJean if Arnold and Mitchell were gone. I hope this kid is healthy.

CletusPyle 04-25-2024 09:57 PM

If he can stay healthy...Colts just hit a home run!

IndyNorm 04-25-2024 09:57 PM

Surprised we took him over Turner, but at least we don't have to hear Dam bitch about our pick for the next several months.

TheMugwump 04-25-2024 09:58 PM

Well, if they take the South Carolina WR Leggett in round 2, my mock is spot on,

Thorgrim 04-25-2024 09:58 PM

It will be interesting to see who's available at cb in the second. Maybe Rakestraw or Lassiter?

nate505 04-25-2024 09:59 PM

It seems like the real concern about him is medical, which I get.

As long as they did their homework and there's no red flags, from what I understand his talent and technique is undeniable.

These guys are 5-6 mins ahead of the tv guys.

IndyNorm 04-25-2024 10:01 PM

Still really surprised we took him over Turner. But as long as he's medically cleared I'm sure it's fine.

YDFL Commish 04-25-2024 10:02 PM

This guy is hands down the best pass rusher in the draft! I just never thought Ballard had the balls to pull the trigger on him.

They literally had the entire defensive draft on a platter. Must be good.

ChaosTheory 04-25-2024 10:08 PM

Vikings replace Hunter with Turner.

The best technician imo. Should make an immediate impact.

The way the corners are dropping may have a lot of choices.

Who could bitch about EDGE1 who looks like Myles Garrett on tape?

ChaosTheory 04-25-2024 10:46 PM

Jaguars struck gold. Big haul to trade down and their projected guys are there.

Don't be DeJean.

nate505 04-25-2024 10:48 PM

I can't believe Mitchell dropped to 22. If Ballard would have traded back and got him there that would have been great, but I'm still not complaining.

I was literally typing this when the Quinyon pick happened...

Not that I expected it, but the longer it goes, the more reasonable the price to trade up gets if you like a guy.

Ballard gushed about the depth of the draft, though, so they probably stand pat.

ChaosTheory 04-25-2024 10:51 PM

Jags didn't go defense. They got Brian Thomas.

nate505 04-25-2024 10:53 PM

Come on Ballard, trade up for Arnold.

That said, I bet a decent CB will be there for him tomorrow.

The CBs don't fit the Colts profile. Look for Khyree Jackson or Cam Hart at 82.

ChaosTheory 04-25-2024 10:59 PM

Dallas traded down to the Lions. Looks like Arnold.

Lets hope so. I don't exactly trust Ballard when it comes to drafting DEs for obvious reasons. Also, pretty obvious that he wanted to trade down since he went down to the last minute to make the pick.

To be fair Latu was obviously very productive in college, looks to be athletic enough, and also looks to be the most NFL ready of the DEs.

Latu is the opposite of Paye, he was productive and disruptive in college, had a lot of sacks and a lot of pressures, and if you watch the film you can easily see why.

apballin 04-25-2024 11:17 PM

I love the pick, still can’t believe they had their choice of defensive player at 15 that’s crazy to me

And Paye was probably Ballard's best pick at DE. At least up until hopefully now.

Yes. Latu is Bradley's LEO, Paye is his Big End.

And he still has Ebukam.

Hate to see the Jagoffs get him, and they picked up 3 more draft picks to boot

Hopefully he's as one-dimensional as some people fear. I do think they could've done better... there's still some guys available that I'm very surprised about.

Guessing Ebukam might be moving to Big End, especially if we don't exercise Paye's 5th year option.

ChaosTheory 04-25-2024 11:46 PM

Wow, Pearsall to SF at #31.

nate505 04-25-2024 11:58 PM

Lots of good players for tomorrow. Imagine getting someone like Dejuan tomorrow when I wouldn't have been furious with him today (granted, I would have with the same board, but still).

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 04-26-2024 06:13 AM

Ballard indicated that the Colts tried to move up from Pick 15. He said of the teams they contacted, no one wanted to move back to 15.

I do think it was telling that there was only one trade before the Colts selection at 15...with the Jets moving back one spot from 10 to 11. Reportedly there were more teams than just the Colts trying to move up.

Ballard says the Colts tried to move up with some big offers, couldn't find anybody willing to go down to 15.
