Not if Colts win the Turnover battle

Or if the Colts defense turns in a solid bend, don’t break performance. I’ll be fine with a few long Chiefs drives that end in 3 rather than 7. That could even out or sway TOP to the Chiefs, but would still be a positive for the Colts.

My goal for the defense: get at least 7 combined turnovers, punts, or field goals forced. Do that, and I think they win.

Yep, they'll have the field cleared. I doubt it will be any issue at all.

It will be colder than shit. They are a finesse team. How is it that when the Colts were a finesse team (not any more thankfully) we would freak out at having to pass a ball that is frozen and hard to catch but it's no big deal for KC now? Cold hurts finesse teams and empowers offensive lines like ours. It should give us an advantage (not a huge one but an advantage never the less)

They get to practice in the cold all week, they live there, it’ll be their home crowd, etc

I agree that it’s a lazy narrative, though. As I recall, I remember from a few years back that the Vikings would struggle in the cold on road games. I think it’s just a matter of going to a road environment that’s drastically different than what you’re used to (like how the Patriots have only won once in Miami since 2013).

Well, 3 of 4 of the Chiefs offense, Chiefs defense, Colts offense, and Colts defense are ranked in the top 10 in the NFL, and one is ranked 30th. That's a glaring weakness.

I don't think the Colts are as bad as the Raiders, nor do I think either of these teams are very similar to the teams they were in September/early October. The last 2 home games the Chiefs played against not the Raiders, they gave up 26.5 points per game. That's more in line with what I expect from their defense this Sunday.

read this from stampedeblue.com

Following a punt by the other team the Chiefs have ended drives with a touchdown 50% of the time when they start the drive outside their own 20 yard line.

However, when their drives begin inside their own 20, the figure drops down to 37.5

That second stat is still pretty damn good.

per Zak Quifer

@zkeefer
Frank Reich is having his Colts practice outside today and tomorrow to ready them for the elements they'll face in KC. Looks like some snow is coming for kickoff on Saturday. "I love snow games, it's always fun," said Eric Ebron. "Brings out the little kid in you.

That stat is probably similar to all NFL teams. Field position def matters and in tight games, the special teams often make the difference.
Also worth noting that for a defense like ours that is more bend don't break, forcing the opposing offense to have to go the length of the field works in our favor. It makes them have to do make more first downs, more snaps, more chances to make mistakes.

You can wear shorts year round in Indy, too!!! Here is a picture from practice when the air temperature was 23 deg F; 10 deg F wind chill.

It seems their beat writer thinks the game could come down to the Colts OL vs. the Chiefs from 7. I hope he's right, because I like the Colts chances if it does.

YDFL Commish 01-10-2019 07:13 PM

I would love for this game to come down to our OL imposing their will on the entire KC defense.

VeveJones007 01-10-2019 07:43 PM

If the Colts win, I have a gut feeling that Leonard is going to force a big fumble on a pass over the middle.
