Ironic since it seems like such an uptight town.

Nagy chose the Bears after he interviewed with them.

Yes, but they need an offensive guy with Mayfield

From what I remember he seemed kind pissed after interviewing with us bc we had mcsnake only as our target. I got the impression he felt he wasted his time.

I don't think he'll consider going to the Bungles. Turning down a chance to work with Luck and then go take over a team with Andy Dalton as it's QB doesn't make a lot of sense, even for McDouche.

On the flip side, he could go there, not do anything, and end up staying for 15 years. About the lowest pressure NFL job I've seen.

Now word out of Cleveland is that Gase will NOT be one of the rather large group of coaches to interview for their head coach vacancy. Possibly due to the ongoing friction between him and Landry.

After an impressive playoff win, Indianapolis defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus may be the new favorite to land the Cleveland Browns coaching job.

It has been reported that the Browns will interview Eberflus today.

Browns are also going interview Nick Sirianni.

I thought they had to wait till after they are done in playoffs?

Oldcolt 01-06-2019 11:40 AM

This is a great wonderful bummer. It happens when you win and win the way this team is winning. I'm hoping the Reich coaching carousal is huge when it is all said and done. Would like Eberflus for at least one more year. If I'm another team, however, I would jump all over the guy.

Eberflus is not supposed to sign a new contract until the Colts season is officially over but he can interview as long as the Colts front office and Reich gives the OK.

Since Ballard and Dorsey are close, I am sure the front office gave the OK. Heck, the Colts interviewed McVisor last year during the playoffs and that sort of set everything up for that mess because the contract couldn't be officially signed and McVisor could easily wuss out.

That and you do not do shit to try to limit your staff's ability to rise in their career if you want to attract top candidates in the future.

DrSpaceman 01-06-2019 02:55 PM

I wish Eberflus would stay another year.

But it seems like he will be hired somewhere as a head coach.

Trying to think of all the openings :

I would actually be surprised at him going to Cleveland, they should just keep the interim coach. But hey, it is the Browns, so expect them to something that doesn't make much since

I heard Arians is the favorite in TB

GB seems intent on others besides Ebeflus, probably on offensive coach to go with Rodgers

Miami, Cincy, Jets, Cardinals, I haven't heard anything about those openings.

Chromeburn 01-07-2019 04:50 PM

Rumor is McDaniels is interested in the Browns job.

Interesting. Packers have offered their head coach job to Titans' OC Matt LaFleur

Good stay away from Eberflus. It is weird I was not overly thrilled with the hiring of a "Tampa-2" coach, but damn if he is not been creative and maximized what talent he has to work with.

I also found this funny - supposedly the runner-up choice for the GB job was the Bucs OC Todd Monken. So McVisor didn't even crack their top 2 picks. I guess he didn't have a good answer for the question - "So what exactly happened with the Colts last year?"

The TITANS offensive coordinator?

He was also the OC of the Rams last year. Anyone who has a whiff of Sean McVay about them is a hot candidate.

According to reports....they are wanting to recreate the Mc Vay experience from the Rams. He was Mc Vays OC last year and gets some credit for the turnaround they experienced. Not sure how they rationalize what he did this year with the Titans but oh well. Will be interesting to see whether he can build a rapport with AR.

Not too hard to rationalize. Gabbert is terrible and Mariota can be as well at times.

DrSpaceman 01-08-2019 09:04 AM

I guess he was the QBs coach for Matt Ryan his MVP season as well.

I don't know, still seems like a reach to me.

And to most Packers fans from what I have read.

I saw Matt Miller and a few other journalists and executives on Twitter saying he is considered to be one of the brightest offensive minds in the NFL.

Reports out of Cleveland today say that it looks like the Browns may go with their OC Freddie Kitchens as their new head coach. Not a done deal though.

https://www.cleveland.com/browns/201...kay-cabot.html

The other "finalist" is reported to be Kevin Stefanski, Minnesota's interim OC. Looks like the Browns want an offense minded head coach.

Packers - Le Fleur

Browns - an offensive guy

Bucs - Bruce Arians

That leaves

DEN
NYJ
MIA
CIN
AZ

Are any of those really an attractive-enough job to pry Eberflus loose? He's only 48 so he's not running out of time at all.

Denver has a good defense but bad offense and weird front office situation where he wants to bring in Kubiak as OC independent of the HC.

NYJ - they probably want an offensive mind for Darnold anyway.

MIA is always a shit show with no real vision or plan.

CIN is weird, their owner is cheap with outdated ideas, bad QB situation.

AZ is a mess, and again they probably want an offensive mind for their young QB.

I think Eberflus is staying.

There are reports out of Denver that the finalists for their post are Bears DC Vic Fangio and Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak.

No other team than Cleveland has requested an interview from Eberflus. If he doesn't get that job, then he's staying.

Arizona is finalizing a deal with Kliff Kingsbury (former Texas Tech head coach) to be their new head coach. He had just been hired to be USC's OC last month but will now be the Cardinal's head coach.

Rumors going around that Browns want to hang onto their offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens. So much so that he is now thefavorite for the head coaching job.

VeveJones007 01-09-2019 01:42 PM

Kitchens got the Browns job, so Eberflus will be back in 2019.

I believe this is the latest:

Arizona - Hired Kliff Kingsbury
Cleveland - Hired Freddie Kitchens
Denver - Hired Vic Fangio
Green Bay - Hired Matt LaFleur
Tampa Bay - Hired Bruce Arians

Cinci - completed one round of interviews with 8 candidates
Miami - Have not completed first round of interviews
New York Jets - Have not completed first round of interviews

FatDT 01-09-2019 02:53 PM

Miami looks like a terrible job.
