Same here, I would pass on him

Most young guys who dont get reps struggle. Remember, Rogers sat behind Farve for years.

Seems dubious.

I had heard the Washington rumors, same person that said that, said Derek Carr would be a Colt? We shall see!

I would be ok with Carr at a reasonable price, just not sure why the Raiders would be moving on from him.

McAsshole claims Carr will be a Raider next season, but he's probably lying and just trying to get more in trade for him! The problem for the Colts is they have no first round pick to trade, they might need one to get Carr?

Look at their division. Going to be tough to win that let alone get to the playoffs. I can see them shipping him and trying to start over with a QB next year.

If he is available, he is the one I want here.

Oldcolt 03-10-2022 10:59 AM

I’m not impressed with anyone who is available I don’t want to spend 28 million and draft choices for Jimmy G. Use the money to shore up other positions and I have no idea who should be the QB.

bigalbert 03-10-2022 11:33 AM

Crazy as it sounds with where he’s at, I’d like to give Minshew a try

What guy and do you specifically mean Wentz to WAS? Weren't they calling everyone?

Carr is about the only one I care to give anything up for. I don't want to give Garoppolo the same money we just saved on Wentz plus picks/players to SF.

Ironshaft 03-10-2022 01:00 PM

For me with Rodgers and Wilson off the board, Carr is the only guy I see as an upgrade possibly available. All the other veteran QBs who will be on the market are one year rentals at based, IMO.

If McDouchbag wants to part ways from him, I don't know that about any price would not be too high to pay for him.

His last 4 seasons of completion percentages? 68.4%, 67.3%, 70.4% and 68.9% in 2018. 90 to 41 TD to INT ratio in that same span. Over 4,000 yards passing each of last 4 seasons. 31 years old when the 2022 season starts.

He is in the last year of his contract and will cost $19.8m of cap space. We would need to sign him to a long term extension but that is the cost of doing business.

His on field and off field leadership is demonstrated. That's the guy I want. If not him, then I don't think it really matters because all the rest are one-year rentals, IMO.

After the Colts, I always pull for the 49ers and I don't want Crapallo either.

If Ballard wants new employment all he needs to do is sign an average at best qb coming off shoulder surgery. That would do it.

I've been wondering to myself if Ballard has been losing interest in being Colts GM. He's been arrogant in his interviews and doesn't have a QB since you know who quit. It's probably just me, but I can imagine it getting old after five years.

but getting him relatively cheap wouldn't be a bad move to see what we can do with him. kid has a talented arm.

Have the Colts had a losing season with ballard? 1 and they were almost a .500 ball club. If you win more than 3 games, you are not guaranteed a shot at a franchise talent. Its not from a lack of effort. They didnt tank a season, they didnt pull a dolphins.

Don’t disagree, I’d be willing to see what he can do. I’m just not sure he’d come “relatively cheap”. Between how hot the market is and GB needing to save face for drafting him, I don’t think he’d come all that cheap.

We've actually had 2 losing seasons under Ballard as we were 4-12 in '17 along w/ 7-9 in '19, but to be fair '17 was the first year under him.

Oldcolt 03-10-2022 09:53 PM

I’ve read where people think Love will go for two third round draft choices. I have no idea what the Colts think of him. He has a gun but so did Wentz

Zac Keefer is reporting the Colts didn’t like Love when he was drafted and don’t see him as the guy now

I would put an asterisk next to the 2019 season as well, because Andrew Luck abruptly retired shortly before the start of the season and we had to roll with Jacoby Brissett ...... the very next season, Ballard picked up Philip Rivers who led the Colts to an 11-5 record.

2017 was kind of similar. Luck wasn't ready to come back and they did the last-minute trade for Brissett who didn't start playing until week 2. We all thought Luck was supposed to come back and then ended up going on IR in November.

I find that hard to believe considering the market, the lack of major draft talent at QB, and his age / physical talent. Not to mention GB needing to justify what was a curious pick at the time. If true I’d make that trade though.

The Colts backed off their interest in him. They didn’t like how he got busted before his bowl game, thought it showed poor judgement before the biggest game of his life at that point. Ballard also did a video interview with him before the draft and came away disappointed. So I doubt they will be trading for him.
