When you only get to play 45 guys from your 53, yes it is. If yo have a guy who can block a PAT or FG, or hurry a punt, he's has ability that 90% of your team doesn't have. Devin Hester had a greater effect than any other Bear in the 2006 Super Bowl, and he played special teams

He is only starting because he is our first down, run stopping DE to go with Sheard. All the other DEs are pass rushers. I'm rather surprise we didn't keep Simon for this reason.

He can also play DT, and on 3rd down. He played well in pre season and earned a spot.
