It's clear Ballard was primarily filling out a roster this offseason. He's going to build through the draft, so that should be our focus on judging his results.

(And yes, I agree that they should make some big signings in UFA, but that isn't the philosophy they are taking, so I won't waste time thinking about it).

And now 5 years have passed, the QB has aged some, been beaten up
some and the team has improved not one iota . So this is it, this is the last
opportunity to build around a once in a generation QB prospect.
And if it fails doctorate papers(assuming there is a field called sports
management) will be written about this calamity. Not that there's a lot
of pressure.

There isn't a quick fix. It'll take three successful drafts to turn this ship around. Like GBB said, the cap space doesn't matter when you don't draft guys who warrant a 2nd contract.

I don't understand how you can believe that given that he's never been provided anything close to that, especially on defense.

Yea, I guess maybe the same guy that faked a punt against the Patriots without the personnel they practiced with is just waiting for the right talent to be successful.

I didn't mean it has to be all done next year. But there has to be
meaningful chunk done. otherwise the Colts are going to run out of time to
build a team around Luck in his prime.
