Letting Glowinski go may very well have been a mistake, but is it really a matter of cheapness on Ballard's part ??? Aside from the fact that it's Jim Irsay's money that's he's doling out and not his own, all NFL teams have a salary cap, so they're all essentially working with the same amount of money. It's not like baseball where you have one team with a $75 Million payroll, and another team with a $350 Million payroll. You could argue that Ballard ought to spend more money on free agents and less money/resources on drafted players from within, but Ballard (and all 31 other NFL GM's) really doesn't have a free hand in terms of just throwing out money to anybody without having to concern himself with working within the restrictions of the salary cap. o |
