The 2006 Super Bowl win would have been just as meaningful if the Colts had had to go to San Diego to beat the Chargers instead of beating the Patriots at home ...... although Marlin Jackson's INT of Tom Brady had me crying tears of joy because the Colts were going to the Super Bowl for the first time since I was in Kindergarten ...... and I was actually rooting for the Cowboys, because I was copying my older brother Pete who was also rooting for them. I became a Colts fan the next year (1971), when I was in 1st grade.

Great. 75+ years of the NFL playoffs and there are 10 exceptions.

5 out of those 10 teams won their first playoff game. 2 other teams (the 1989 Oilers and the 2013 Packers) lost games that went right down to the wire.

I agree with the author of that article that almost all of those teams were undeserving playoff teams with no shot of advancing to the Super Bowl, but they all were not necessarily easy outs in the playoffs ...... only 3 of them were beaten soundly in their first playoff game.

The point I was making was against his EVERY team is TOUGH once you make the playoffs. Just not always the case. I've watched a lot of playoffs since the 80s and there have been A LOT of playoff teams that got smashed in the first wild card game.

It is interesting that without their "Best Player" they keep winning.. Would Colts have won without Taylor? Well they are 0-7 when he doesn't get 100 yards and 9-0 when he does. Even had Henry not got hurt.. Taylor is more of an MVP than he. Imo

You may be correct about every team not being a tough out, but the citation that you used was not a good one to make your point. More than half of the teams in that article either won their first playoff game, or lost a nail-biter that went right down to the wire.

The Colts losing to the Jets by a score of 41-0 was a good example that you alluded to, as are the Colts' victories over the Broncos in 2003 (41-10) and 2004 (49-24.)

They are in first place, but they are not necessarily winning. The Titans are 4-3 since he went down with an injury, and one of those 4 wins was due to Jimmy Garoppolo playing awful than it was to the Titans playing well.

As apballin pointed out, there is a good chance that Henry may not be close to 100% if he does return for the playoffs, but he is almost without a doubt their best player. I think that apballin is probably correct, and that he won't be much of a force that he usually is should he return for the post-season.

Also, I agree that Jonathan Taylor has been more valuable than has Henry. I said that he was the Titans' best player, not necessarily that he was a candidate for MVP.

I was on a short break and grabbed a quick link. Again the point he made was EVERY....again.. EVERY team in the playoffs are tough to play at that point... Agree or disagree... There is no in between.
