Fans who understand the game know the injury has affected our options at offensive play-calling. Stat-watchers (and Giants fans) say he is reverting to his norm.

He won't sign a franchise tag, unless he really loves the Colts organization, fans and community.

He will get offered a multi year deal elsewhere. He will in all likelihood get offers from the Cardinals, Steelers, Raiders and Jests.

Then, what are our options if we lose him? Give the man 40 million a year and cal it a day.

You think he'd sit out a year if tagged?

I get that but part of his norm has been being injured. Only one season so far not missing games due to injury. This may be season 2 of not missing games but injury has affected his play.

With a tag being worth an estimated 46.1 million next year he will play here if tagged and probably not be to unhappy.

If he's franchised he doesn't get a choice, does he?

He has the choice to not sign. That is an equally bad choice for both parties in this case. Then it becomes who flinches first. Why build the ill will?

If you don't believe in something, then you believe in nothing. If the Colts don't believe in Jones, then move on. If they do then sign the dude to the contract that is his market value.

Bottom line I do not see Carlie approving of franchising.

I think so, too.

But I also believe that short-term, the Colts could be headed for disaster down the stretch of this 2025 season, largely because of Jones' broken fibula.

Long-term, I think that both Daniel Jones and the Colts will be fine ...... I think that they are for real for the first times since the 2020 Philip Rivers season.

I'm concerned about the 2025 season ...... I'm not particularly concerned about 2026 and beyond, because I'm confident that the Colts will likely be perennial contenders.

If he's franchised and doesn't sign it, he must sit out the whole year. He can't just sign with another team, that's the purpose of the franchise tag. His salary for the one franchise year would be in excess of 40 million, it just wouldn't be for multiple years.
