He slipped because the ball was slightly underthrown, and he had to come back a little bit for it ...... and then he dropped the ball because he was so conscientious about getting the 2 additional yards that were needed for a 1st down, he dropped the ball while trying to get them ...... if he had just secured the catch by going to the ground, it would have been 4-and-2 instead of the 4th-and-9 that it was. o |
About what I expected.
This team feasted on bad opponents early. They dont have what it takes. |
What a disappointment. Time for the rum. See yall next week.
|
Hey, we're much better than I thought we'd be,.our QB has a broken leg, and we're still competitive/entertaining. And I'm not spending any money on it.
On to next week. We'll beat the glitter kitties. |

America is doomed. The Colts are not. Have some faith in the future.

And I'm off to the RedZone stream.
🏴*☠️ Arghhh Have a good rest of your day, everyone. |
I doubt we win another game.....that first round we gave up next year won't be a 20+ pick, more like #15 which would be a really good player!

I agree. The Colts are still 8-4, and 3 of those losses went right down to the wire. Losing 3-out-of-4 games will cause many fans to panic and/or declare the season dead, but that is not necessarily the reality of the situation. The Colts may or may not fold down the stretch, but I don't think that it's a foregone conclusion ...... especially since this team has only had one really bad game so far this season, against the Steelers. They have had 2 or 3 slightly sub-par games (including the win over the Cardinals), but only one really bad one. o |

Houston plays KC and the Raiders the next two weeks. If they go 1-1 they’ll be tied with us but ahead with the tiebreaker. Jacksonville plays us at home next week and the Jets at home the week after. We haven’t won in Jacksonville in like 10 years. If they win both of those, they’ll be 10-4 and a full 2 games ahead, with the tiebreaker against us. They DESPERATELY needed to win today on their home field and they didn’t. I honestly don’t think they make the playoffs now. This was an absolutely DEVASTATING loss. |

The last two games, the defense has given up 20 points each time. I would expect to win a game where you held the opposition to 20 points. The defense hasn't been great, but not bad. The problem has been the offense. Apparently, whatever was working for DJ early, has been solved by opposing defenses. It's time for him and Steichen to adjust.

You're assuming 2 losses against teams that are good, but far from unbeatable (the Jaguars and the Seahawks.) I'm not assuming that, and I don't think that that's a crazy non-assumption. And while the Colts have not won in Jacksonville since Herbert Hoover was the President of the country, they also won their Opening Day game for the first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 ...... so far, this Colts team has shown to be better than the mediocre ones of recent past over the course of the first 12 games of this season. o |
Extra point miss was painful. Losing our kicker was big.
Seems we're missing a few play calls with Jones injury that existed earlier in the season. He might be playing scared in the pocket, too. We still have a 74% chance of making the playoffs but the excitement it gone. Just made a big cash out on fan duel after the last 2 weeks. That makes me feel a little better. 2 weeks ago, Phily and Indy were #1 seeds. lol |

Bottom line is, there’s no way to understate how much this loss today hurt. They’re in real danger of missing the playoffs entirely now. |

To me this was the second game in a row where we needed desperately for our QB to elevate his play. Jones, while he works like a dog and is physically as tough as nails, is completely incapable of doing this. He is mediocre against anything but shit teams. Gonna be tough/impossible to win big with this kind of QB play.

The team however, has really fallen off. There remains a MASSIVE inability to get to the QB. Time and time after time and more time than that, the QB is sitting in a very clean pocket and just waiting for someone to clear- they are consistently getting 2 & 3 reads deep without feeling pressure. Ward, to me, looks washed and with Sauce appearing to be out, this defense is going to be abused in these final few games. |

I agree he made some nice throws and played ok. He will always make some nice throws and play ok and we will continue to be a .500ish team. When the game is on the line, when you need that drive to take the lead there are some QBs you have confidence will find a way, find the will to make that drive and win. Jones, in my opinion, will never be that QB. Unfortunately, we will be playing QBs that can and will do that if we ever want to go deep into the playoffs. While he may not be the problem, he isn't the answer either.

I like DJ, he's pretty good. Not elite like some here have rated him, but he's not really the problem. He's not really the solution either. I said this several weeks ago. Don't sign him to a long term contract. Not yet. Franchise him and make him prove he's worth the risk. I've heard it said that this is the time of the year to seperate the contenders from the pretenders. Which one will the Colts be?

Jim Plunkett was thought of as a "loser" after 7 seasons of futility while QB-ing bad teams on the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers from 1971 through 1977. After being out of football for 2 seasons, he came back with the Raiders and resurrected his career behind one of the best offensive lines in the history of professional football. He won a Super Bowl in 1980, won another Super Bowl in 1983, and led the Raiders to an 8-1 record in 1982 before they were upset by the Jets in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Plunkett's record as a starter with the Patriots and the 49ers between 1971 and 1977 was 34-53. Plunkett's record as a starter with the Raiders between 1980 and 1984 was 34-12. Archie Manning was a quarterback who was highly criticized as an underachiever during his playing days because of his team's futility when he was a starting QB between 1971 and 1981 ...... but historians now realize that those critiques of Manning, who played on terrible teams with awful offensive lines and very bad defenses, were inaccurate. If Archie Manning had been playing for the Steelers or the Raiders throughout the 1970's instead of the New Orleans Saints, he very likely would have had as much success as Terry Bradshaw, Darryl Lamonica, and Ken Stabler did when they were taking snaps behind the center for those respective teams ...... and you can take it to the bank that Terry Bradshaw and Ken Stabler would not be in the Hall-of-Fame today if they had been playing for the New Orleans Saints in those days. The Colts were 8-2 this season before Daniel Jones hurt his leg, and he was ranked #4 in the NFL in passer rating at that point. They lost their last 2 games by a very close margin while his mobility, which is a big part of his game for exponential reasons, was severely hampered. Saying that Jones is who he is based on his 6 seasons playing with bad New York Giants teams is as faulty as saying that Jim Plunket was an underachieving loser for 7 seasons while playing for the Patriots and the 49ers before he was scooped up and given a new lease on life by the Raiders. o |

He is surrounded with elite talent at pretty much every position, yet he still seems very shaky a lot of the time. Just imagine what Mahomes would do with that OLine, JT at running back, and that collection of receivers. He’d probably go undefeated. In my opinion, Jones holds this offense back as much as he adds to it, especially now that he can’t move. Our problem is that we’re grading him against the last two years of Anthony Richardson, which would make anyone look good. |

Ballard was always gonna take AR there. He said as much. How relieved he was that it was Houston who traded up. He was afraid someone was gonna jump up and take AR. |

Ballard is brilliant in evaluating a ton of positions. Unfortunately for us, QB and pass rusher don't happen to be two of them

Even if he did, he was still gonna take AR. I guess I don’t understand what you’re saying. |

Reich was a true idiot taking Bryce Young over Stroud but that is at least turning out to be a decent draft pick. Why do you guys keep making excuses for Ballard, now he has traded our future away on an another player that can't stay healthy....I don't get it, Houston out maneuvered him in the draft and in coaches and we will be paying for it for years to come. |
Always a C&O lover. I was only pointing to the many threads which we may read.

However, Houston had the 2nd pick. There was no way they were gonna pass on taking what they believed was a franchise quarterback by trading that pick to a division rival. That was never gonna happen, and if it did, it would have cost so much that it wouldn’t have been worth it. Especially since, as it turns out, Stroud isn’t really a franchise quarterback. He’ll, they played just as well with Davis Mills. I’ve seen this argument before, that Ballard should have given whatever it took to get Stroud. But this isn’t Madden. Houston was never gonna trade that pick. And neither was Carolina gonna trade the first pick, considering they traded into that spot. |
Also, I won in 06 !!!!!
