Because there is almost no way that the Texans will give them a sideline pass completion for significant yardage.

Their only chance is a pass over the middle for some yardage, a spike, and a Hail Mary.

Blah.

Another one score loss.

This loss is much more on the offense than the defense.

The defense got 7 stops today (6 punts and 1 fumble), and 7 of the Texans' 23 points were given away by the offense in the final seconds of the 1st half.

HoosierinFL 10-27-2024 04:23 PM

How do we play so badly, just look awful and inept for large stretches and somehow only lose by 3?

WaynesWorld87 10-27-2024 04:24 PM

And we didn't get off a pass. Because...of course we didn't. That play epitomized the shittiness of this offensive line and AR at the same time.

njcoltfan 10-27-2024 04:24 PM

How inept..............can't even get off a " Hail Mary "

ChoppedWood 10-27-2024 04:24 PM

There is not a single person within this whole organization that doesn't hold blame for this one. About as incompetent from top to bottom that an NFL organization could possibly be.

There are a lot of people that either shouldn't be playing or shouldn't be coaching on this current version of the franchise.

I contend Irsay is out of the discussion for various reasons, including I don't think he's even part of it anymore.

The rot starts at the top with Ballard. Until that fucking POS is gone, this franchise is not going to achieve anything.

BCN#1 10-27-2024 04:24 PM

Another episode of silly suckatility with plenty of blame to go around.

Colts And Orioles 10-27-2024 04:26 PM

o

(THE COLTS' DEFENSE)

I thought that the Colts' defense played pretty well today ....... the offense gave away 7 points in the final seconds of the 1st half, and they forced a huge fumble late in the 4th quarter after the refs gift-wrapped the Texans a crucial 1st down deep in Colts territory.

Possessions: lllllllllllllllllllllllll 12

Punts: lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllt 6

Fumble: lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.. 1

TD: llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ., 2 ) (1 Off of a turnover deep in Colts territory)

FG: llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll l) 3

Dude, the most top-to-bottom incompetent you can be? We just lost by three with our QB going 10/32.

That's your answer. Your QB was 10/32.

And he gave away 7 of the Texans' 23 points with an incredibly stupid INT in the final seconds of the 1st half.

Regardless of whatever play that Steichen called, Richardson is the player on the field ...... he needs to know that in that situation you simply hang onto the ball and get tackled in-bounds to force the Texans to use their final time-out, punt the ball, and go into halftime tied at 10-10.

Dude, that shit to end the half, that's coaching at a pee wee level! A fucking beer belly dad with his 3rd grade 3 and 7 pups team, runs the ball there and goes into the locker room either tied or MAYBE down 3, maybe.

The fucking drive AFTER the fumble, seriously, is Steichen too fucking stupid to see what he has under center????

The all-world, possible all-universe LG has three---- THREE FUCKING false starts???

No, this isn't a 3 point loss on 10/32 passer, this is a loss by an organization that is rudderless and stunted with a ton of lower end talented players in big positions. A better coach, a smarter team, a marginally more talented team, we win that by double digits!

Let me back up even further. A better, more prepared team, they don't fucking fair catch the ball at the five with just a fraction of time left in the half. If they do, then they run it- which we did, and then they run it again, and then if they still don't have a first down, they run it again.

Hey, maybe next week we'll sit JT and have Goodson start, and we will run 10 fucking pass plays to him.

This team is just bad. Stupid fucking players and remarkably stupid fucking coach.

Indystu2 10-27-2024 04:39 PM

I was away from my PC during the game. So this is my only post.

It's time to bench AR. That is all.

ChoppedWood 10-27-2024 04:40 PM

I guess one saving grace, essentially the entire AFC that matters, lost in the early games. We're basically no worse off than we were going into today.

Though given the complete incompetence, I would be stunned if we win any of the next 4 games so I don't think it will matter.

No, he had a great stretch where he showed what is necessary to do this, is in the bag.

But man you cannot have all these fucking drops, you can't have a supposed HOF guard constantly drawing flags, you can't make atrocious play calls, you can't fucking expect all this negative shit to surround a guy who is so damn raw, and expect to win. You just can't. Steichen always talks "we'll get that cleaned up"... seems to be a bunch of fucking lip service to me, I see the same shit over and over from this team.

Nonsense. We lost by 3 with AR playing like dogshit.

The entire offense is COMPLETELY different with Flacco under center.

We just need AR to play better. Which we know he’s capable of.

These are the growing pains we should have gone through last year.

I don’t understand what this offense is. You can’t just run 40 yard pass plays every down. Then the B penalties put them in 3rd and long. JT had over 5 a carry, run him. Help your young QB.

The end of the first half was horrible coaching, why put him in that situation. You have to manage him, he isnt a 6 year vet.

Dewey 5 10-27-2024 04:46 PM

Same old thing upcoming. Getting close just need to clean things up. Need to coach better blah blah blah. Fire everyone & start over. Again

Unfortunately it's looking like that for AR. 2 for fucking 15 in the first half. What the total fuck was that? And AR just keeps getting worse. Can't wait to see what he does next week .

Steichen might be ok if he had a QB who was accurate at all, but he definitely looks clueless on helping AR out. 3rd and 3 from your own ~10. AR has gone 2/14 in the first half and just threw a pass that should have been picked. So he calls up empty backfield w/ a timing route over the middle. Absolutely horrible play calling.

Well, we’ve got At Minnesota and Buffalo in the next two weeks so 4-6 is almost certainly what we’ll be.

Our OL was shit today too. When they weren't false starting they were getting their asses handed to them by Anderson, Hunter, etc., etc., etc.

The Ravens looked unbeatable over their last 5 games, and they lost to the Browns today.

Most Colts fans didn't think that the Colts had a chance to beat the previously-undefeated Steelers last month, but they did.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume losses in future games because the other team is favored.

Steichen is weird. He seems, for whatever reason, to be just fine having 2 incompletions and 3rd and 10 and in a damn near impossible position to convert. But he seems to HATE the concept of running twice and having 3rd and 4 which is converted at a much more frequent rate because of how many options are available on the play sheet at that point.

The one thing we have all seen with JT- he is a trust the process back. He will have 6-8-10 straight runs for 1,2,3 yards, and then he will fucking house it. Then, he is a fucking monster just gobbling up 12-20 yarders after that.

Steichen just cannot seem to allow that pattern with JT for whatever the fuck the reason is.

Starting to think he is way too similar to Reich in that he wants have a lot of the attention focused on him, how inventive, how creative he is vs just doing the right things to win fucking games!

The problem is AR hasn't shown any improvement at all and actually just keeps getting worse. Seems like it might be best to pivot and try to develop him the old fashioned way b/c throwing him out and and sticking w/ him isn't working.

As poorly as AR played, I blame the play calling to close out the 1st half for this loss. 59 seconds left, you're on the 5 yard line, (90fucking5 yards away) scheduled to start the 2nd half getting the ball and you don't just run, run, run? This idiotic play calling cost the Colts 7 points. Your QB is passing like shit and you decide he might pull off a drive of at least 60 yards so you can try a FG? There's still hope AR can overcome his youthful ignorance, but whoever called the plays down the 1st half stretch should have is balls removed.

Kray007 10-27-2024 05:07 PM

Yeah, Richardson was 10 of 32, but he wasn’t wildly off the mark. A lot of his passes were either knocked down by a DB or dropped. On others, the pass was on the mark, but coverage was tight. I only counted a few throws that were badly throw, but that’s par for the course in the NFL.

Today, I hardly ever saw a pass that sailed high over the receivers head or was way off target, long or short. In other words, I saw progress.

I have to rewatch OL to see for sure how everyone did, but I'm not claiming they played great or handwaving Nelson's penalties.

But bringing that up is like having a burning house and pointing out the lawn needs to be mowed.

2/15 in the first half, 8/17 (47%) being the good half... Everything looks worse with that performance.

And still it was a 3-point loss, not 52-14 like the Lions did to the Titans.

No doubt. Like I said, horrible play calling. Make no mistake Steichen is handcuffed w/ horrible QB play right now, but he's definitely not doing AR any favors w/ his play calling. As others stated earlier in the thread (and plenty of other times) Steichen needs to play call to AR's strengths rather than keep trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I blame the offensive line and Steichen the most. This overpaid OLine didn't pass block worth a shit all day and Q with a shitload of penalties. Steichen's ignoramus play calling at the end of the 1st half in inexcusable. Knowing only bad things could happen and it did. It was just unfucking unbelievably stupid.

I would say it's more like saying your garage is on fire too. Granted the OL has played well this year, but they definitely didn't today. Our 3 and out after Dayo's fumble was all b/c of the OL, and AR couldn't even get off a hail mary at the end b/c of the DL pressure. And a lot of AR's throws in the 2nd half were off b/c of DL pressure. Although as bad as he was today those throws may have been off anyway.

Dewey 5 10-27-2024 05:39 PM
