I am still in the boat you sign Jones to a friendly deal knowing we may have something with this kid. Odds are we are going to have to start him the first few games of the year.

We weren’t winning anything in the playoffs with Rivers even if we had made it. That was obvious. Even Steichen had to have known that.

So why was he signed?

Not sure 2 years was needed, but in hindsight it seems obvious that we should have at least sat him to start his rookie year and slowly worked him in.

Although what we all have seem to have forgotten is that AR played much better than expected in his limited time his rookie year. That could have been an aberration, or he could have regressed between his rookie and 2nd year.

I have been a big Riley Leonard supporter since his good showing against the Jaguars last month, and I still am ...... I think that he could at least be the Colts' 2nd-string QB in 2026, maybe even more ...... but I also was a supporter of the move to bring Philip Rivers in, and Rivers actually played well against the 49ers while the Colts' defense and special teams were completely shitting the bed.

It's water-under-the-bridge that needs not be met with outrage.
