Cheats signed Jonnu Smith for 4/50. Huge overpay.

Yeah, looks like Tampa Bay performed a little cap magic with that contract for Barrett. 4 years / $72M deal - however, it has a cap hit of only $5.6M for 2021 per Rapoport.

How’s this: The cap number for 2021 is $5.6M. That’s how you keep it together.

Of these last three signings, the only one I would have liked the Colts to look at was Okwara. Let the Pats and Bucs spend their money. The more other teams spend, the less cap they'll have left. I can totally see Ballard waiting everyone out and getting several B+ FA to sign on for one or two year bargains because noone else has any space left.

Won't be Trent Williams, but he'll definitely make the team better without hampering his ability to re-sign Leonard, Smith, and next year, Nelson.

He reminds me a lot of Jack Doyle. Good and well rounded player who will help make your offense click but not someone that will ever strike fear into opposing defensive coordinators.

I agree that I think they overpaid. Although they see him as the next Gronk, I will be shocked if he ever posts numbers anywhere near top of the league for TEs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ballard didn't sign anyone until next week, or the week after. IMO free agency is not his thing.

Apparently, 31 mill is guaranteed per Schefter, not just some cap fuckery to reduce the hit in 2021.

This of course means he won't finish out that contract in Tampa. This will bite them in the ass later. They are clearly going for 1 repeat and then will have to blow it up.

We've already got the 1 big signing in Wentz. Last year it was Buckner. That's his thing, he's going to sign 1 big name and that's it.

I'm not as sure as everyone else that Ballard won't swing big in free agency. Not a huge probability but years ago when he first took this job he talked about how he wanted to build a team. Amazingly enough that is how he has pretty much gone about it. I say this because he said he was against free agency as a way to build and didn't think he would use it until the 'locker' was set. He wanted the right attitude in his locker room. He has that. He will not overpay, but if a free agent is going to get true value for the dollar this is the year it is going to happen. It will be interesting to see how he builds this team. There are so many ways to go about it now that he has acquired the QB (fingers crossed)

Wow, Ngakoue off the board for only 2/$26. Colts could've beaten that easily.
