The Chiefs had 5 possessions in the first half, and scored 10 points.
The Colts' defense stepping up against Mahomes so far is somewhat reminiscent of the times in which they stepped up and contributed largely to beating Peyton Manning's Broncos in the 2013 regular season, and again in the 2014 divisional playoff game.
There is still a looooong way to go in this one, though.
o
o
In addition to the 2014 divisional playoff win against Peyton Manning's Broncos, Vinatieri's 4 field goals in this low-scoring game also reminds me of 2006 Divisional playoff win over the Ravens in 2006 ........ in that game, Vinatieri kicked 5 field goals for all of the Colts' scoring in a 15-6 win ........ the last of which was late in the 4th quarter to give the Colts a 9-point (2 possession) lead.

The Colts' win over the Chiefs tonight will be just as surprising as was their loss to the Raiders last week ........ last year when the Colts started out at 1-5 in their first 6 games, they bottomed out with a loss to the Jets in Week 6 ........ they then proceeded to win 9 out of their final 10 regular season games to qualify for the post-season. The loss to the Jets last year was similar in terms of disappointment and unexpectedness as was the loss to the Raiders last week.

If this Oline stays healthy, this team has the potential to make a really deep run this year. Those dudes put a stamp on this one by just beating the shit out of the opposition. Late in the season those Dlines are not going to be able to stand up to that shit- that's how the 90's boys just dominated games late in the season and won a lot of SB's that way.

This game looked a lot like the Madden 17 game I played right before tuning it in. Ran the ball right up the middle over and over because I could get 3, 4, or 5 yards every time. Video game numbers too: 180 yards rushing for; 36 against.
I know that KC is not a top run defense, but I hope this is eye opening for the coaching staff. In a league that has built its defenses to stop Mahomes, Brees, Brady, and Rogers, defensive lines can be run on, if a team is patient enough...at least some of them can.
Would anyone here mind if Jacoby averaged 200 yards/game or less if they can run for close to 200 and maul the other team?
I know I wouldn't miss the passing game if they win.
We just beat the chiefs on the road... good job men, next week.

I think this will be another demonstration of how good Reich really is (we had a very real chance of winning a game last week without our best offensive and defensive players and without our starting safety and # 2 receiver...).
We won't win it, but it will be a game down the stretch. Frank will go after TOP and try to limit the possessions Mahomes gets.
23-14 KC.
Didn't get the outcome right but I thought it would go this route.
Possession 37:15 22:45
We dominated the ball in the 2nd, at one point late I think we had it for something like 24 minutes of the 27 played...

Look at Baker Mayfield versus Mahomes. Sure, the NFL gives Mayfield credit and likes to hype him a bit, but with Mahomes or the QB in Baltimore, it's taken to a whole 'nother level because it caters to who they're trying to attract. None of this argument matters because it's all drowned out by the "that's racist! lalalalalala I can't hear this!" sentiment that some people prefer to fall back on.

Who are they trying to attract? Black people? Young people?
Mahomes won the mvp already in his second year. Mayfield has yet to do anything except be on the Browns. If you are good or look pretty good the NFL will hype you. Stars drive the game, especially QBs who you can’t even hit anymore. That’s why they are so flummoxed by this Colts team, they don’t know who to hype.
Maniac
10-08-2019, 08:40 AM
The NFL hypes success and potential along with good storylines for them and the league. They hype plenty of white guys too. It's not a racist thing. They hype whoever they can. Mahomes has been a fantastic young QB, so of course they are going to hype the kid up. ESPN and other media companies goes over the top on their side, because they like the drama along with it.

Man I do not know how to upload pics any more
What Limbaugh said:
"Sorry to say this, I don't think he's been that good from the get-go," Limbaugh
said. "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in
the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback
do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a
lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't
deserve. The defense carried this team."
Just for the record.
I think one of the problems with African American QB's is that they are usually very good overall athletes. They tend to abandon the pass and are able to run their way out of trouble. And they tend to leave the game plan and start relying on running rather than distributing the ball around the field.
I would also point out that's what Luck used to do and he suffered the fate of many a running QB, they get beat up and leave the game too early.
Now Mahomes is a different thing all together. He has great vision, and ridiculous arm and he tends to stay back and find a receiever before taking off. How he didn't become a short stop? Probably can't hit the curve.

People say racist things and then are dumbfounded when called out on it. Mahomes is hyped because he is awesome. Lamar Jackson is fun to watch. It has nothing to do with the color of their skin.
Except to racists.

If the Colts kicked onside kicks for the rest of the game after they scored, the worst that could happen would be giving Mahomes a short field to work with ........ and that might actually help our defense, because if he is going to lead them on scoring drives (TD's or FG's) on every drive anyway, they would be on the field less.
I'm only half-kidding.
