That’s a tough hit for the defense. We get to see our depth. Can Willis move over and play Hookers role?

Can Willis move over and play Hookers role?

Ballard thinks he can.....the below quote is from Ballard in his post draft interview:

“This kid’s a really good football player, man. He’s smart, he’s tough, he’s got good movement, good speed — I thought he was gonna run a 4.51, 4.52; I think he ended up running 4.46. I think he can play different spots; I think he can play free, strong, nickel — he can do a lot of different things for you. He’s not (former Chicago Bears great safety) Mike Brown, who I was with in Chicago, but he’s got a little Mike Brown to him. But he is a really good football player, man. And wait ’til you get to know the kid: I mean, it’s exemplary."

Ugh, this affects both safety spots. Hooker covered a lot of ground and allowed Geathers to play close to the line. I don’t expect Khari to be able to cover that much space. Also means Geathers will have to be back in coverage more which is not his strength.

Man I was just thinking yesterday should we have tried to get Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins?

Next man up !!!

o

Jacoby Brissett has done an excellent job of replacing Andrew Luck at quarterback in the first 3 games of the season.

Clayton Geathers had the first INT of his 5-year career yesterday to preserve momentum for the Colts during the Falcons game.

I'm going to presume that Frank Reich will find a way to get by with the Hooker situation ......... he seems to almost always do.

At what point do we point to the turf at LOS as putting players at greater injury risk?

How is Indy's field turf different than the other 20 or so teams that have it in their stadiums?

I don't think the field is an issue at all. It's not like the old stadium with just a rug over concrete.

That explains all the crappy zone we saw in the second half. Honing to a fun six weeks.

Seems like we will have a rough couple weeks, as we dont have much choice but to start Willis and geathers, spell them with odum.
I imagine we need to look around for someone also.

No it doesn’t. Hooker was out there for a decent amount of the half.

Pretty sure he missed the entire second half, which saw multiple completions to Jones and Sanu

Reich's comments about Hooker's injury and Khari:

https://twitter.com/zkeefer/status/1176233788424302592

Frank Reich says the team has not discussed moving Malik Hooker to IR; seems to indicate they expect him back relatively soon.

As for Khari Willis, who'll step in, Reich says: "Every indication we have from Khari is that this guy's a ballplayer, and he's gonna be ready."

I think getting sheared back will help a bit too, if we can get more pressure, it should help the safeties do their job. Obvious I guess.

Yeah, several of the reporters have speculated that the injury occurred at about 11:16 left in the third quarter.

And yes, he checked back into the game later and finished it out.

Yes, but that would only solve the problem for a few quarters, maybe a game.

Because Mike Doss is the real solution.

Thats Omaha's guy, along with Mike Hart if i'm not mistaken.

Check his injury history, especially in recent years. Then combine with him being a street free agent presently.

The Colts are kicking the tires on FA S Marcus Gilchrist per Rapoport:

With starting S Malik Hooker having a meniscus trim today, the #Colts are having FA S Marcus Gilchrist in for a workout and visit today, source said.

Put Speed back there. I don't know if he can cover, but he will get a running start at a receiver. That would be fun to watch

You know I did give that some thought. Hooker ran a 4.47, Speed- was speedy @ 4.67- so a little on the slow end, but not terrible. Damn it would be fun to see him back there. I remember when on occasion Suggs would be lined up as Safety, that shit has to terrify a 5-11 185 guy.

The Colts worked out a bunch of safeties today besides Gilchrist.

The list included: S Kentrell Brice, S Deiondre’ Hall, S A.J. Hendy, S Shalom Luani, and DB Lafayette Pitts
