View Full Version : So all new questions for the season

A few things come to mind now with the totally unexpected news about Luck :

When Reich was hired they said he was the only candidate that did not ask one question about Andrew Luck. Good thing that was the case

Ballard recently said more trades could be made before the season. Whole slew of possibilities for that now

Seriously is Chad Kelly or Brissett the better choice as the starter? Brissett has the experience but I wouldn't be shocked to see Kelly get a shot at some point.

Is it four games he is suspended?

Kelley looked like a decent option. Who knows. I am depressed.

Unfortunately, I think the Colts will be just good enough to not draft a franchise QB...

I guess he does have the two game suspension. (Kelly)

Going to have to draft one, or trade up.

Then have to go through the rookie year growing pains.

Then the next year to see if he grew and is any good.

Then maybe start to talk about getting good again. Meanwhile, our LT will be likely done so have to find a new one. TY will likely be done or close to done. So need a new number 1 receiver. Houston gone. Any guy that is right around 30 probably won't be here.

This is a bad dream right? I need to wake up.

I think they'll be in a position to lean on defense and running game, tbh.

But yes, the age of OL + proven skill position players doesn't line up with a 2020 QB. They'll have to keep drafting well, of course.

So, how’s does this effect the salary cap.

This would be a situation where Kaepernick would be less of a focus with his statement he's trying to make simce the focus would be on replacing Luck.

These guys still think Luck is coming back. If anything, he'd go to another team when that becomes possible.

I really think Brissett is as good if not better than Kap especially considering how long Kap has been out of football and the fact he was not really that good.

God damn now if we have to deal with these fucking Kap questions on top of everything else.

Don't want him. Tired of hearing about him. Next question, its a no.

He hasn't played in the NFL for years for one.

Second, he is not that good to begin with

Third.......god I hate the drama around it. I don't care if he kneels or tries to suck his own cock during the anthem, I am just tired of hearing about it.

Ballard, man, really feel bad for him. First that dipshit from NE last year and now this.

Ballard more than anyone is becoming my hero for the team.

I don't see Brissett lasting the whole season.
Kelly will get some playing time sooner or later.
My guess is "sooner" and a whole lot of playing time.

If Brissett doesn't get better at getting the ball out you are probably right, he is his own worst enemy sometimes.

Bringing of the idea of Kap brings an all time high to sports retardedness. I thought that was only for Kravitz.

Even if a player has been off the field for a year it's pretty hard to get into playing shape and part of that is taking an impact.

Why would anyone bring his name up as a solution?

5 wins. We are good, but not so good that we can overcome losing a franchise QB. Everybody likes Jacoby but he is not accurate enough to be a number 1. We play some tough teams this year.

Feels like the appropriate time for the 2019 prediction thread. I think I’ll take them down from 11 to 6 wins. I do think there’s a chance Brissett could surprise and they win 8 or 9.

I would rather have a team that always tries to win.

I'd rather not give up draft choices and end up with a "Jay Cutler". This is a situation where the Colts can't trade from strength. The asking price will be high.

I brought up Eli before in some context

He is a free agent after this season, so would not likely have been trading for him before this year even if known earlier, not for one season.

Foles.....who knows? Would have been interesting to see if they brought him in had we known earlier given the relationship with Reich

Two things a QB will need in this offense.

1. He's got to read the D
2. Be accurate with the ball. Even if it's a check down

If he can figure out what the D is doing, he can adjust. But he's got to hit the target. If he's a turnover machine, then the D can't hold up

This team doesn't need a big arm, they need an accurate arm

You are a genius! Too much sarcasim?

With this D, and the O line (if healthy), the QB shouldn't gamble too much. He can be Tom Brady, a game manager.

Brissett is a very good deep ball thrower. The Colts will still take their chances downfield.

With TY Hilton, hell yes.

You contol the ball, you score (FG's are not the devil), you control the clock.

STRIKE when you see the opportunity, and you run the ball when ahead. Brissett will have a lot of help if he sees it;

If they think JB is the answer. I can see them making a move on another RB to help take the pressure off of him. Not talking about Zeke either.

That is a good point, I do recall him being very good at getting the ball deep despite his less than 60% accuracy overall.

And he has much better targets overall now than in 2017.

One question I have is do they go into week one and two with Phillip walker as the back up. That scares me more than Brissett starting.

I don't think they know if he is the answer but will make a decision after this season, since its a contract year.

If he is not, a whole bunch of cap money to try and get a FA or try to draft one, somehow.

I mentioned this elsewhere but they had the throwing guru (House) in a couple of weeks ago and he spent the week working with JB on his mechanics. Will be interesting to see how/if his accuracy has been improved as a result. Both Luck and Brees spoke so highly of House's impact on them.
