Every time I get a chance to hear a Ballard interview I get more impressed due to the clarity and simplicity of his message and then seeing his actions line up to exactly what he's messaging. Today on Dakich he's speaking about someone he just added to his staff (sorry didn't get his name but he's not from the football talent pool). This guy's role is to put in place a process to evaluate and predict the non football determinants of success (character, ability to learn, work ethics, etc) to aid in the selection of talent that fits the Colts model. In a small dig a Pagano he said "we talk about grit but what does that really mean". This guy will turn it into something concrete so they can select based on real criteria. Ballard also talked a lot about what you do with a guy once you sign him......you have to have a rigorous plan for how you develop them (both on and off the field) and it needs to be individual to the specific player. Several times he mentioned improved strength and conditioning as well as non football support. Really good stuff. I really think if Pagano doesn't up his game significantly he will be really exposed and Ballard will take action. I have no doubt.

just listened to the interview on Tunein Radio (1070), really refreshing compared to our last asshole GM....I loved his quote about Jack Doyle being a great human being and that having him remain as a Colt was a top priority when he walked into the building

Yes! Also his comment about the locker room knowing who deserved to be rewarded and that the locker room was 100 percent aligned to Jack needing to stay. Very good stuff.

Not defending Pagano but I think a lot of organizations lack this type of process being in place. It's like some teams think it's all about the X's and O's and everything else be damned.

Which is why a lot of teams dont sniff a championship. I dont want to be one of those. Pags is a major part of the last regime that spun its wheels for the last several years.

Pags may be a good DB coach. He may be a good DC. But I dont think he is a good HC.

Well Ballard surely won't keep him past this season if he can't do what he expects of him and his coaching staff. I bet he's already fucking sick of hearing the phrase "chopping wood"
