Seemed like a breakout player a few seasons ago but it's hard to imagine him having much to offer after all the injuries.

I’m actually softening my stance. I haven’t called for him to be cut since about the last 4 games of the season

He’s not as good as people think. He has the best line in football and we were still in the bottom half of the league in rushing

Maybe not, But it was 4 games before the line really started working together, two of those were Missed by Mack, he still averaged 4.7 and a total of 908.

I don't think anyone is saying he is an elite back or even a very good back. My opinion is that he is good enough behind this line that we dont have to spend a draft pick on RB.

He's 23 years old, we have him at sub $800k for two more seasons (ranked 99th among RBs), and he was the 16th best back in the league by yards and missed two games.

15th ranked back was Sony Michel at $2.5M, 17th ranked back was Melving Gordon at $2.6M.

Yea, fuck Mack and his stupid, ridiculous value.

Ballard and Reich seem to like him:

“Absolutely,” Frank Reich said when asked earlier this offseason if he thought Mack was a ‘feature back’ moving forward.

“Marlon had an incredible season. You look at the production he had in the games, not playing a full year. Came out the beginning of the year, was hurt. We just got so much better in the run game as the year went on. A lot of that obviously started up front, but Marlon kind of hit a groove and was doing his thing. So we just look to continue to build that with Marlon.”

“We think a lot of Marlon Mack,” Ballard says. “We think he can play on all three downs. We think he can carry the load.”

Not for nothing, a few thoughts.

1. They didn't have the best O line until Costanzo came back and Golwinski (sp) took over the RG spot. And it was sometimes a little spotty when Ryan missed some games.

2. Mack was hurt all of the year before and taking hits as a RB with a messed up shoulder, earns him a measure of respect. Mack improved as the team improved and if you would look at his improvement as the year went on, he was harder to tackle and he was running through more arms and weak tackles.

3. The Houston playoff game:

Speaks for it's self.

I want to give him another year. He seemed to improve and a lot of things were new last year. I do t think he is the end all be all but he has good speed to break big runs when holes open. We saw flashes, I want to see more consistency.

Incendentally. Josh Jacobs is visiting the Colts now or in a couple days.
