Long read, but it looks like Luck is really improving day by day, 19-22 with 2 TD's. Plus Nelson and T.J. Green got into a little skirmish, as did Slauson and a couple of other defensive players. Green needs to stay away from Nelson because he will get killed. Love the nastiness of this O-line. Mewhort is practicing at LT while Castanzo is still sidelined.

I think the best we can expect is some good plays from the secondary once they're all healthy, and the occasional pass rush if the right players are on the field at the right time. If we win it'll be high scoring games or against bad teams, or both.

It will take hard work, karma, and a broken leg on the best Off. opposing player for the D to win a game.

I'm listening to Big Joe's show this morning and he said his favorite quote from camp so far came from Jon Simon. He was asked what do you like best about this new defense. He said....I love that they want us to be violent and aggressive. This really calls to question what they were being coached to be before......passive and soft? SMDH....thank goodness we have better coaches steering this ship now.

It's getting there. Nelson is a fucking beast and hopefully the other O-linemen will follow his lead.

Like the line about Hines being lined up and used all over the place, man I so want to see us with a guy that the D is always having to game plan for and can create a mismatch at any position. If he is as versatile as they say, Luck is going to get him the ball and let him work. I don't think Pags would even try those type things with a grizzled vet let alone a rookie.

Any idea why they think Mewhort is starting LT instead of Castanzo? Is AC hurt?

Yes, AC has a hammy and it's a non football releated injury. They are not worried, he will be in soon.

I think we have two very aggressive guards

Matt Slauson doesn’t take sh*t.
Nyheim Hines gets knocked down. Slauson heads into a group of 5 defenders and let’s them known he wasn’t happy.

Matt Slauson is an asshole. And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. Just got into a scuffle with the defense.

Well, that's leadership. Most people don't want to be an A hole, when an A hole is needed to get everyone moving in the SAME direction.

This type of player is why I wanted Incognito before he went stupid

Incongnito was always an idiot. All the way back to high school and he was an idiot at Nebraska. He still is. He has streaks of common sense, but they were always far a few between.
Some guys can't separate real life and the football field. It's ok during a play to be a dick. After the whistle, not so much.

I agree. As for the OL, they may be in for a rude awakening when they first line up against a DL that isn't as shitty as the one they're now lining up against.
It makes sense that they're working on being a quality running team. The longer they have the ball, the less time this D has to fail.

And, the biggest gift to a short, quick strike passing attack is a great running game because that draws the defenders into the box so that the edges are clear for the swing, wheel and out routes.
Once the secondary sucks down to cover those, then going over the top because easier.
It all works togeter but a solid running game helps all of it.
Walk Worthy,
Incognito has always been stupid
But he was a damn good guard

Rumor has it he wants to try politics after football. If he's as dumb as you say, he oughta go far in politics.

Howard came off the injury list today and was in practice. Good news. AC getting close but not in yet. These guys need to get reps together as a starting unit.
