When my first kid was born I was awake a lot, so I played a lot of NFL Head Coach '08 on Playstation. Tom Rathman was the top RB coach in that game. That's all I've got on this guy. Hope he's good.

The part I remember about Rathman is that he just fricking ran over people as a blocker. He probably was in the 49ers backfield on 40 - 50% of the plays and was the extra blocker on a lot of them.

864 touches in 131 games over 9 seasons for an average of 6.6 touches per game.

544 of his touches were rushes (4.15 per game) and his other 320 touches were receptions (2.45 per game).

He averaged 3.7 ypc for his career rushing.
He averaged 8.4 ypc for his career receiving.

They only started recording 1st down stats in 1991 and in the 4 years that he played from 1991 - 1994, he recorded a 1st down on 35.1% of his rushes showing that he was a 3rd down specalist as well.

I liked Rathman a ton when he played. If he can bring that blocking, pass catching and hard nosed attitude to the Colts backfield, it would be great.

Walk Worthy,

That is hopefully the thing he really brings to our RBs.
