I just cut my most experienced and battle tested CB because he rightly questions my terrible coaching decisions; one of which is to healthy scratch my 2nd round pick CB when he needs playing experience to develop. My GM is giving me a WAY lot of rope to hang myself with and I am taking every inch of it.

Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh.

That's not the only thing he's going to be taking every inch of. Especially this Sunday. Pittsburgh will be going in dry.

He's undergoing season ending surgery, and seeing how he's 30 next year and Ballard seems to be focused on getting younger and building through the draft, this is just an early signal of what we already knew, that Davis was likely to leave as a free agent next year.

Now how dumb would a 5th or 6th round pick look? I dared say he looked like he was going half speed and the head clown here thought it was the craziest thing he'd heard all day. Fuck off, dude.

So did they release him out of spite? Why not put the guy on IR? I think we all knew he wasn't going to be back here next year anyway. However, I'm uncomfortable with what has transpired here.

I don't know what Davis did to warrant this treatment, because maybe it is warranted. But this move seems almost malicious in nature, and it makes me question the ethics of everyone involved. The situation with Luck is also illustrative of this in the same way, at least IMO, because you seem to be hearing different stories from different sources.

The only source that I can really see has a history of misleading others, and any vested interest in lying, is the Colts. With all of this medical shit we are hearing, I'm wondering about former players of all talent levels from Bob Sanders to fucking Anthony Gonzales and wondering whether or not this organization is so incredibly incompetent and shitty that careers have ended early and games have essentially been lost.

How would your employer respond if you started going to the press and complaining about them? I think Ballard is trying to bring some stability and accountability - if he sat idly by while Vontae blathered on about not receiving enough "respect" and made veiled threats of leaving at the end of the season or having season-ending surgery, what kind of message does that send to the other players?

And by the way, what's the value of keeping him around if he's going to bad mouth everyone and not play? It was painfully clear he was leaving at the end of the season anyways, so I say cut him loose and send a message to everyone else. Things have been crazy enough without adding infighting to the list of dysfunction here.

this was about as fucked up a handling of a player i have ever seen. who on earth did this happen?

how is irsay or ballard just standing behind pagano and letting him drag this franchise down so hard?

Sad that Irsay seems content to allow Pags to continue to damage the team. Holding out hope that he fires him during the bye.

can you imagine how ballard feels in this situation? if he is the football dude people make him out to be.

there is no way he doesn't look at pagano and just see a tornado of idiocy that touched down in the middle of the town and is just tearing the roof off of every building along main street.

only mcadoo seems more incompetent. and that is arguable.

pagano needs to go and he needs to go now. how can you attract free agents to this team when they see this shit week after week happen with no consequences?

and irsay just needs to shut up. tweet contests for tickets and be a rah rah dude.

Who started badmouthing who here? The first I heard of any problem was Davis being left in Indy as a "coach's decision" and very much not injury-related. How would you take that as a veteran Pro Bowl player? Especially if the team's med staff was mishandling your injury? Maybe that's not how it all went down, we don't know. But it seems like the Colts fired the first shot out of nowhere.

Trust me, I understand the employer's perspective here because at the end of the day my loyalty is going to be with the Colts over an individual player.

This pot of shit still stinks, for me personally, because who knows who is telling the truth. Davis claimed he was blindsided by the benching, and took exception to it because nobody had warned him that his play was warranting that. He also provided the excuse that his groin was not responding to treatment.

Why doesn't the medical staff already know everything that's happening with Davis' groin? (in my opinion concealment on the part of Davis is not an excuse for the Colts).

Perhaps Davis is the asshole in this entire thing but history says the Colts are the ones probably telling half truths. At least from my perspective. I just don't want to watch Indianapolis become a place where no Free Agent ever considers and Rookies just go to in the hope that after 3-5 years they can leave.

this is how it should have went down.

pagano: vontae, we are going to have to bench you. we need better production out of you

vontae: but coach, my groin is hindering my ability.

pagano: go see the training staff. we will let you rest for a few weeks and see what happens. we appreciate you fighting through this and getting on the field but we got some depth and we will be ok.

vontae: thanks coach

the end.

but we got the pagano version.

yep, ballard had to release him ASAP based on how pags team fucked it up. It became toxic real quick and since VD most likely wasnt going to be resigned, it was an easy call for ballard.

Hopefully Irsay fires whatever medical staff the team has been employing since they've been shown to be incompetent fools and replaces them with much higher quality.

I could not agree more. I wonder how hard it is to replace a medical staff. I would guess it would have to be done after the season.

I remember when the team dropped Dr. Shelbourne and the team's care supposedly went down. It was a while ago and I forget who I was talking to. But supposedly the team that replaced that group was thought of as a downgrade.

Ugh, on the flip side Vontae was done this season, and I doubt we will resign him so...

Too bad though, weird way to go. Groin injuries suck and take forever to heal.

According to Will Carroll this medical regime has been in place for a decade and he considers then to be incompetent.

Do you know if they report to Ballard or to Irsay? I'm not familiar with that aspect of team structure. I hope that Ballard has the authority to clean the whole house from top to bottom.

I hate to keep recycling this old story but listening to JMV now and he is talking to Kevin Bowen about what that mysterious incident is that caused the colts after benching VD to add insult to injury and tell him he couldn't even make the trip to Houston......JMV said it's been reported to him that VD caused an "incredibly embarrassing, disruption" at a practice late last week. What specifically that was, he wasn't told........I'm guessing he said something derogatory about Chuckie that was overheard by many......even if this is true I still think they could have let him save face by saying he was staying behind to get treatment for his groin but to expect competence at this point is probably not realistic.

that could be true. but then pagano should have said disciplinary reasons and said we won't discuss it further.

Agreed, but like I said expecting competence at this point is futile. Why manage a situation down when we can just throw another log on this dumpster fire of an organization on your way out.....

So the only time Pagano gets tough and demands accountability is when he gets his feelings hurt.
