Riley sends us of with a victory who cares if Texans pull their starters at halftime

Leonard gets hurt in 2nd quarter. Phil comes in.

The game ends with CIG walking up to Steichen, with Ballard in tow, she demands his headset. She places the headset on Phil's head and has Peyton Manning come from the tunnel to tell Chris Ballard he is taking his job and Peyton then T-bags him in front of a stunned national audience.

Yep. Yet another meaningless week 18 game to end a shitty season.

I am interested to see how Leonard plays, but I'm pretty sure that by halftime I'll be ready to either change to another game or call it a season and go run some errands.

Actually Seth Henigen, who we signed to the PS this week is QB2. Rivers is going to be QB3.

My predictions

If the Colts win Chopped bitches that Riley should have started all along and Ballard and Shane should be fired

If the Colts lose Chopped bitches because Ballard should have never drafted him and Shane can't turn a 6th rounder into a starting QB that can beat the #1 Defense in the NFL on his first start. And bothBallard and Shane should be fired

If it's a tie Chopped will bitch that the team didn't dig deep enough and its Ballard and Shanes fault and both should be fired.

If there is an injury Ballard should be fired for drafting him and Shane should be fired for playing him in the first place

I’m already pissed off about it. It’s really inexcusable.

We could have had a 4 game sample to really see what we have in Leonard and Steichen pissed it away on 44 year old Rivers. It’s almost a fireable offense in my mind.

You also wonder of Flacco and Minshew offered mentorship and he rejected it- which you can certainly find yourself putting stock in given some of the things which have permeated the messaging around him.

I'm with you, this just pisses me off. The offense actually looks pretty similar to what it did with DJ minus the gaping runs by JT. Nice moving of the pocket, isolating one side of the field, letting him run a little with it, etc... Why the fuck we didn't stick with the offensive concepts- which had been so successful, I will never understand.

100% spot on.

What we are seeing is remarkably impressive, but it is just one game. How important it would be to have a 4-5 game file to review and process to assist in decisions for next year.

I made fun of Dam right after we drafted Anthony Richardson, because Dam said that Richardson needed to sit for 2 years ...... Dam was right, and I was wrong.

o

Not sure 2 years was needed, but in hindsight it seems obvious that we should have at least sat him to start his rookie year and slowly worked him in.

Although what we all have seem to have forgotten is that AR played much better than expected in his limited time his rookie year. That could have been an aberration, or he could have regressed between his rookie and 2nd year.

I agree.

I have been a big Riley Leonard supporter since his good showing against the Jaguars last month, and I still am ...... I think that he could at least be the Colts' 2nd-string QB in 2026, maybe even more ...... but I also was a supporter of the move to bring Philip Rivers in, and Rivers actually played well against the 49ers while the Colts' defense and special teams were completely shitting the bed.

It's water-under-the-bridge that needs not be met with outrage.

Ok there’s a really bad throw.

Or a combination of bad route and bad throw. Either way that ball shouldn't have been thrown. Take the safe throw when its there. Not every toss has to be 40 yards down the field.

ChoppedWood

We weren’t winning anything in the playoffs with Rivers even if we had made it. That was obvious. Even Steichen had to have known that.

So why was he signed?

He absolutely strikes me as being the guy that doesn't believe in the "It's the Jimmies and Joes not the X's and O's" mantra. To me he just seems very confident that he can beat everyone with his schemes regardless of the competition he is facing, and would seem to be overly thrilled to win with an underdog squad where he can pat himself on the back. To me, there's way too much Reich ethos with him.

I hate Jimmy Johnson, I don't think he was a great coach, but Jimmy Johnson was the absolute pinnacle of just leaning into the skills and talents of the guys on the roster by recognizing it is a simple game if you just let the talent do the work for you. It was so fucking simple and so damn frustrating to watch.

The Texans are sitting Stroud now. How funny would it be if Tennessee rallies and beats the Jags.

Not just Stroud, but they sat all of their key defensive and skill players coming out of the half as well. It'll be an absolute disgrace if we don't win this game now

Teams learned his weaknesses.

That’s what NFL defenses do. Take away what you do well and if you can’t be effective then, you’re not gonna make it.

That’s why in my opinion it would have been great to see Leonard for extended minutes.

Shades of 1980, when Walter Payton was ejected from a game for accidentally making contact with a referee in a game against the Falcons.

Payton actually tripped as he was running toward the referee to argue a call ...... when Payton stumbled, he grabbed the referee to keep himself upright, not to attack him ...... but it was still contact with a referee, and so he got the heave-ho.

The torment wound up being even worse than I thought ...... instead of an anti-climactic 25-yard pass completion like I was expecting, the Texans gave us one final kick in the nuts by scoring a defensive TD to end the game, and the Colts' miserable 7-game losing streak.

HA HAH HAA HHAAAAA!!!! What a way to end this sad sack of shit of a fucking joke of a fucking pathetic season! If I am Carlie, I hold the post game presser and announce what I just watched is an embarrassment and it is a direct result of a shitty coach, who hires shitty coaches, who is empowered by an even shittier GM, and that has just come to an end thank God!

Well, I can say RL did things in this game that I had no confidence in him being able to do at this level- which says a LOT about his dedication and growth in a short period of time.

We have no 1st round draft picks, and I am not convinced there is a 2nd rounder that is going to be a better alternative.

I fucking tell him he is the starter going into camp and that DJ can sign for backup money or he can go elsewhere. Bring in a damn seasoned guy who can work with RL and can throw the ball a bit if called on, and roll the dice with what we have. If it all implodes, at least you are setting yourself up for a top 3 pick in 28.

Man this is some sad sad shit...

Question…Did Riley Leonard supplant Richardson as QB2?

The kid we plucked off the jagoffs practice squad supplanted AR, even if he was ready. The dude just sucks at football. Yea I am still pissed we took him. We could have gotten a defensive playmaker at 4. Not us we took the biggest reach since Jamarcus Russel, even though all tape on him showed you what you were getting. All the athleticism in the word doesn't mean a thing when the 8 inches between your ears don't match.
