I don't know what his statistics say, but this guy has been incredible in the yards-after-contact category ...... every time you think that he's bottled up for a very short gain, he keeps on running and manages to wiggle out of the grasp of the defenders that have their hands and arms on him for a few additional yards.

He's the opposite of Trent Richardson. TR would turn a 5 yard gain into a 1 yard loss, JT does just the opposite.

Really stoked for the season he's had so far.

5 RBs have 2x3TD games in a single season:
Joe Morris (Giants) in 1985
Priest Holmes (Chefs) in 2003
LaDanian Tomlinson (Chargers) in 2006
Derrick Henry (tacks) in 2021 (in 8 games)
Jonathan Taylor, (Colts) in one half of 2025 (in 7 games)

Please can we not mention that dude? Worst trade of the century. And I'm sorry omaha, but he definitely was not a rolling ball of butcher knives. Fuck you Ryan Grigson!

If he was a bowling ball, then he was one that had nobody to toss him down the alley.

He's the best I've seen at turning negative runs into positive runs since Edgerrin James.

Spectacular plays are great ...... but what sometimes falls under the radar are the little things, like turning a 1-yard loss into a 4-yard gain ...... plays like that won't make the highlight reels on Sportscenter, but they add up over the course of a game and the course of a season ...... somewhat similar to a boxer who lands a lot of body punches in the early and middle rounds, and then winds up getting a TKO victory largely because of those body punches.

That is a big part of JT's improvement. He has even said that he has become more patient as a RB, by watching Leveon Bell clips (you shoulda been watching Edge dude!) He's in the HOF, Bell will never earn that distinction.

The Joe Washington game is what ultimately caused me to fall in love. I can still FEEL that game, I can see the screen, I can see my mom sheepishly telling me I needed to go to sleep when she just like me was enthralled in the theatrics to a degree that you could not turn away. God bless our Colts!

I remember that game vividly, because the rain on that shitty turf made it look like a skating rink.

100%! Still to me, the most exciting ending in NFL history. Perhaps nostalgia prevailing over everything but yes, you are right, the sheen was so oppressive, can still see it in my head--- and I LOVE being able to remember every moment of it!

The thing that I remember most vividly about that game was Bert Jones with his right arm in a sling, smiling, jumping up and down, and pumping his left fist in the air every time that the Colts scored ...... Bert very badly wanted to the Colts to somehow hold the fort until he came back from his injury.

He came back with a vengeance later in the season vs the Redskins.

And just as was the case for the Joe Washington Patriots game, that Redskins game was a Monday Night Football game ...... Mike Curtis was playing for the Redskins in that game, and I remember him wanting to hit Bert on the last play of the first half when Bert slid feet-first near the sidelines. I was in 8th grade at the time, and the commentators were talking about the sequence of events on that specific play between the former teammates.

I didn’t see it live but I love to watch it again on occasion. Joe’s best game for sure and likely Troup’s as well.

As great a back as he is (and he is great) you cannot have an offense with a back as your primary weapon. NFL defenses will stop you. To me the issue isn't that they stopped him. It is that we have been unable to make defenses pay for committing to stopping us. If we had been able to JT would have been over 100 yards multiple times after Atlanta and nobody would have written this article.

JT finished the season 3rd in rushing

Part of the problem was the quality of defenses he faced.

Jacksonville was the best team in the league, this year, vs the run.
Seattle was 3rd
Houston 4th
San Francisco was 9th
KC finished at 11.

If Jones had been able to stay healthy, if the deep threat hadn’t disappeared, if great run defenses hadn’t been able to compress the field, Taylor might have fared better.
