Fuck those reporters. Admittedly, I fucking hate 95% of the press in any field... But it's like, goddamn... dude just told you his thinking process about a particular topic, and two guys later, Holder or whoever it was goes, "What's your thinking process about this particular topic."
His answer about making people believe in the process was spot-on. It's the poker analogy exemplified. You can make all the right decisions (not saying Ballard has made all the right decisions) and still lose. And a typical spectator is not going to think you know what you're doing until they see you win. Which is retarded. So fuck them.

Eh. I'm not a big fan of the press either, but Ballard had to have known that he was going to get asked out the ass about AR and DJ. To be fair Ballard for the most part said all of the right things, and I really liked his shout out to Treadwell. I've said it a couple of times, but I hope he signs to our PS.
On a different note - I'd be willing to bet one the "basement guys" Ballard was talking about is Chopped :D

I think Ballard came in primed after Shane’s grilling the last few days. The media has clearly taken on an antagonistic approach and I guess he felt coming out swinging was the best look.
It is what it is. The current regime has flat out failed, we’re all sorry. The fan base is exhausted, and they’re tired of the excuses. I think these questions are difficult questions and can appear unfair, but I also think they characterize the fan base’s perspective.
Their refusal to concede this project appears to have failed is understandable. They’ve got a campaign to set out upon and they need to have a positive outlook but it also enables a perception they lack any accountability. The fan base wants success for the team, we don’t care about their jobs. Ballard’s sidestep of the AR question using Alex Smith as an example is almost disrespectful. And like I said in the prediction thread, they only care about a winning season (why can’t the just say the goal is to win the division? They NEVER say that)
I don’t know if he really had a choice to not come out like that. They are on their heels.i could see his perspective being they have to be aggressive, and successful, and then argue we are the assholes for not believing.

Of course, and it shouldn't be off limits... but that's the thing - it wasn't. What was it, like 15-16 mins in before anybody asked about the rest of the team. And that was more than likely because he spoke up.

I guess I just don't see the swinging. He gave like 5+ minutes on the situation before Holder's passive aggressive shit. And then the dude asks why we should believe him, which I already noted is retarded. He talks at these things, it's not like he's Belichick.
They don't talk football. They're just fishing so they can gin up the interpersonal narratives.
Hurry up and get here, season. Let's see this "meh" roster I keep hearing about.

That is the story, though.
There's blood in the water. I don't know if there is an answer Ballard can offer that would satiate the sharks.

His tone was defensive and he acted like everyone else was being unreasonable. Like I said, he's on his heels.
The layman doesn't really give a shit about the rest of the team, they think the engine runs on the quarterback and they're not buying the organization's sales pitch on DJ. The Media is a mouth piece for that, and they are giving the people what they want.
I'm ready to see results too, positive or negative. I just want a division title, I don't care if it's Leonard that gets us there. However if they lose the opener, it's going to be a bad week.

The press were all asking the same freaking questions. Questions that had basically already been answered. The press came out of this as douche bags in my opinion.
Ballard was here to talk about the entire roster, the season going forward, the recent activities ie the roster cuts, potential signings etc, not to rehash the same old crap about the QB battle, that was last weeks news.

Those guys just want to hear their own voices, so they do not hear the same question being asked by another person. Truly insufferable vermin. There was a time when they printed the stories about events. Today, they want to be the story. See: Doyel, Gregg

Not even really sure what the presser was intended to accomplish. I thought his statement about how if he had to get a real job that would suck was sort of a great monument to why I hate him so fucking much. Real jobs, those suck, glad I have this fake one where I don't really have any accountability, it must really be a shitty life to have to weld shit together and have someone evaluating your welds and telling you they arent' good enough and you might lose that measly income you make to feed your family.
He is just an aloof asshole who is not any good at what he does. Even he knows it, and he'll go to his death thinking he has conned people into not being able to see through his bullshit.
This team is fucked, completely fucked, so long as this dude's mentality is allowed to soil it.

While the QB decision happened last week it's not last week's news in regards to the fact that it's the story of the season. So of course the press is going to beat it to death. Plus isn't this the first time a lot of the reporters have had a chance to ask Ballard about it? Either way I have news for Ballard - the questioning on DJ/AR isn't going to be going away soon, and will get 10x if DJ struggles.
Also, I'm glad to see Ballard and Steichen get a good amount of heat on this. It's more than well deserved since they royally fucked up the QB situation to the nth degree.

100% correct.

100% correct. Reminds me of my 20's as a grunt, guys would come into work the day after a pre-season game like, "Did you see? The Texans beat the SB champs 31-10. And people said they weren't gonna be good, hmph!"
This is for them.
Not even really sure what the presser was intended to accomplish.
What do any of them accomplish? Vultures don't eat good meat.

I think your hatred is making you lack insight here. I have a job I love, and if I had to change jobs to another field, I would say that it sucks to have a "real job". So, I get exactly what he meant. He loves that job, so it is not like a job, but like a passion. Those do not suck like "real jobs".

Yeah, prob right. He just strikes me as so fucking pompous and so impressed with himself---- and I just can't figure out WHY?
