Just a lighthearted (but honest) off-season post to thank my fellow 'freaks for your loyalty and longevity in supporting our favorite NFL team. In fact, we have been around for so long now that we have outlived our "freak" nomenclature.
When I look at other Colts boards/subs online nowadays, I'm usually disgusted by the amount of negativity, vitriol, and outright hatred of the ownership, office staff, players, and pretty much everything else people can think of about the team. Some of it has merit, but most of it is just gross. Most Colts "fans" these days seem happiest when the team is performing poorly and they can bitch about it online for the approval of other "fans". Just gross.
I get a kick out of the fact that many if not most of us old-timers found this place because, once upon a time, we were banned from the "normal" spaces. And now that window has been moved so far that we are, for the most part, the calm voice of reason. We're rational! Ha.
Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to let y'all know that you are appreciated. Good luck to you and yours and thanks for all the banter over the years.
And no, I still don't consider myself an old-timer (even though I am nowadays just by default).

I agree, although I wish some of the thin skin pussies that left, would come back. Most of them had a lot to add to this board.
We would welcome them back right guys & gals?

As one of those thin skinned....folks....that left for a year and then came back (under a different name initially), I am glad that I came back.
I love talking Colts. I don't love being made fun of because of my religious choices on a Colts board. To each his own.

Frankly, I don't know what your religious beliefs are, and didn't even know that they were being made fun of. I'm sorry for that. I guess I'm just a little bit ignorant, in that I just gloss over most things not Colts related.
I for one, am glad that you are back by the way.

Yeah, I wouldn't call too many of us on here normal (including myself), but it's a great forum with good and knowledgeable fans.
I've been on here long enough that I forget when I joined. I think it was before the 2012 season when I stumbled across this place looking for a new forum after the RATS forum was removed. And of course I'm glad I did.

This is still the best forum for genuine Colts fans, with little to no filters from the moderators. More often than not i find that the messages on here are of a higher standard than those written on other Colts dedicated websites with a team of writers.
I regularly visit Stambede Blue, but in my opinion that is getting worse and worse, and they are regurgitating things written by other media outlets, with very little input from the author of the post. It's as if they are just hoping that the fans will add the commentary themselves. There isn't any journalism, and i realise that they are not paid as a journalist, but it feels as if articles were well written and about decent topics if you go back 5 years ago.

So I go back to the AOL days for my first Colts forum. I think myself and DOE, maybe Pete were on there. So we are talking mid 90's back then.
I also remember correctly predicting that Jim Mora would be the next coach of the Colts.
I joined RATS when the whole AOL thing became less fun.
The most memorable thread on RATS was actually a thread on Larry Moore, who was playing G/C for the Colts at the time. The thread ended up becoming, what I believe was the longest ever thread on the the RATS forum. I believe that it was 30+ pages.
When RATS went down with a whimper, is when I joined FREAKS. IT is still essentially RATS when it was fun. I'm not sure that the format is that much different.
Lest you forget, that I also predicted The Daniel Jones arrival.

Man you’re a real OG around here holy shit.
I got banned from Colts.com for a debate over the draft that year, I wanted the Colts to pick Chris Johnson, everyone there was bashing me saying I didn’t know anything about football and he’d end up being a nobody. It was fun to me I was enjoying the debate. I didn’t know I had done anything wrong until I received the email and I will say I was disappointed because I was ready to argue this until draft and after the draft and years later.
Which I can say now Chris Johnson ended up being a hell of a running back.
That’s another reason why this place is great, we can stand on something have debates about it but we all still come back right or wrong. We’re all still here and we can laugh when we’re dead wrong. *Brian Price*

I too started posting in 2002, around 12:30 a.m. the morning of Monday Nov. 25th to be exact. Mike Vanderjagt had just kicked the winning overtime fg in snowy Mile High Stadium. I had been a lurker for a few years but I just had to join in the festivities after that electric Sunday night game.
Damn that was a crazy bunch on that board with trolls like Paintonhisaloosir sp? and the Miami troll who picked fights. I remember threats and addresses being exchanged lol. I think the Miami fan described himself as being capable of kicking ass because he had “a swimmer’s body” rofl. Of course we had the Church of the Second Chance CO2C with Reverend DaCoats and all of our loyal parishioners!
There was also some girl (Amber maybe?) who posted smokin’ hot pics and another who was on a serious power trip. Jeesh I can’t remember them all. And while names escape me I still remember some wonderful posters who we sadly lost to death over the years and too the occasions when members candidly shared the passing of a beloved family member or fellow colts fan. The board has certainly changed over the years but it has always proved to be the best place to get an education on football and enjoy some nonsense while decompressing. I wish I could add something more meaningful to the board than being a game day observer and occasional smart ass but I am grateful for having a place to come share my love and frustration of the Colts with a group of thick skinned malcontents who have far more football knowledge than I’ll ever possess.

I don't remember their forum names, but I do remember there were a lot of Phins trolls up until the '03 season. Then they went away and were unfortunately replaced by a bunch of Cheats trolls. Although I always enjoyed responding to them when they'd go on about how great Boston was with something like: "If where you live is so great then why do you waste so much time trolling on an opposing teams' message board? Shouldn't you be out enjoying the 'greatest city on the planet'"? I never actually got a good response to that question :D.

Such a forgotten game too. Vandy hit the the game tying and winning FG in the snow. I just checked it out PFR, and they were 51 and 54 yds.

Banned from Rats, banned from Colts, probably a couple others along the way. Man I remember posting some evil shit towards 3effin! Somehow never banned here but have lost a couple user names along the way.
I wrote a few pieces for Ed back in the day- can't recall what site that was? That was in like 99' - 2000 era?
Man it's been a long time doing this shit and the memory isn't what it once was. Someone mentioned addresses being exchanged in a volatile thread. That might have been me and Puck? I remember a multi-months war with someone, it was brutal. Some of the horrific shit we threatened each other with- all over football- hilarious! I can recall posting some of the stuff and actually having to wipe away tears as I typed because it was so incredibly ludicrous and thinking that would have to cross some form of line that would cause banning- but it didn't. Then I would read the response and laugh so hard I cried then too because it would be something even more insane like threatening to beat up my mom for bringing someone so stupid into the world. I remember it being so out of control we were talking about killing wives and children, just insanity, but also incredibly fun.
This little community has developed into a place where you know if you come here to post, it's gonna be real, it's gonna be raw, and you better be prepared to hear every possible view and be willing to accept every angle. I love the fact it's not all bubble gum and lollipops, all the other sites are so sanitized it's not even worth interacting.

I had a couple bible thumpers wanting to pray for me and my marriage... I shit you not! That got set off when I posted about the beaches in BCN being topless and that the church ladies would lose their damn minds. After that, some of the lads bailed and made CrankyColts under Jander´s (RIP) control and Rod Kuehl´s dime back in the day. I came over there and never looked back after Cranky stared to go tits up.
