The sun is going to rise in the East, set in the West, and the Indianapolis Colts are not going to win their season-opening game ...... this has been true for more than a decade.

The Colts are 0-10-1 in their last 11 season-openers since 2014.

Their last season-opening win came in 2013, when Andrew Luck led the team to a come-from behind, 21-17 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 1 ...... yes, the Oakland Raiders.

The only time in the last 11 seasons in which the Colts did not lose their first game was when they battled to a 20-20 tie with the Texans, in 2022.

There were 73 players that saw game action for the 2013 Colts. The last 2 active players in the NFL from that 2013 Colts team were Lawrence Guy, who he was released by the Bengals in November of 2024, and Matt Overton, who became a free agent at the end of the 2024 season. One player from the 2013 team has died (Vontae Davis.)

So here's to hoping that the 2025 Colts finally win their first game of the season in September ...... I know that it's asking a lot, but I've seen stranger things happen.

Damn brother can we get through the draft first?

I'm with you though. My daughter has never seen me pleased with the product on opening day and probably thinks at this point it's normal for me to be annoyed.

Oh, my post is not an indicator of how I necessarily think how the 2025 season will go for the Colts ...... they might go 13-4, and they might go 4-13. They might have the best draft since the 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers, or they might have the worst draft in the history of professional football ...... but either way, the Colts' futility in season openers encompasses good seasons, bad seasons, and mediocre seasons ...... and THAT is rather uncanny, because whether the Colts are going 4-12-1 like they did in 2022 or whether Andrew Luck is leading the team to the AFC Championship game like he did in 2014, they always seem to find a way to lose the season opener.

We both know you think they will go 13-3-1

Either that, or 12-4-1.

With the Colts finally winning a game on Opening Day in 2025, we're all hoping that this one stays in the rear-view mirror.
