Good for him, I’m not mad at him as fans we just gotta understand the reckless style that is the most fun to watch just isn’t sustainable. Which is why guys like Bob Sanders, Andrew Luck, and now Darius Leonard just can’t hold up. In my opinion their style of play is everything that football is about, giving everything you have every play and every game literally laying your body on the line for your teammates and the fans of that team.
So I’m not mad at any of these 3 guys in fact I admire and appreciate everything they gave to me as a fan because there’s nothing I love more than a kamikazze style football player!
Tip of the cap to you Mr Luck, your an intelligent guy and you’ll probably be very successful

Fuck that dude. He quit on his team on the eve of a season. Shitball move at the pee wee level, let alone as a pro.

Opposed to what? Hanging on thinking you can do it because you feel obligated due to a fat contract you received?
Like Darius Leonard? When he attempted to play again after back surgery all of us here at coltfreaks could tell he was done… I’m sure the organization told him as well… yet he didn’t wanna believe it and look how his career disintegrated.
Luck gave it his all when he was out there, it’s not his fault the organization hasn’t been able to replace him after all these years

Opposed to what?
Having the professionalism to work with the team so they could prepare for his void as best as possible.
He let the team know he was not going to be their QB 12 days before the start of a fucking NFL season. Grocery clerks generally are asked to provide a 2 week courtesy to their employer for Fucks sake. He didn't figure out he could no longer be the QB on August 24th. Probably knew it after the final horn of the prior season but completely FUCKED this organization with his selfish timing.
Fuck that dude!

Possibly. Lots of theories but everything to this point from the org says they found out the same night the world found out. If so, FUCK HIM! If not, and they all KNEW some time prior, then FUCK THEM for being scumbags who KNEW the team was fucked but didn't want us to know.

Retiring the way he did surely leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Without question, he was hurt; maybe he needed some time away to heal body and mind.
But simply retiring because football was no longer fun marked him as a dilettante. It told us that he didn’t have the fire, the zeal, the innate drive to compete and succeed that are the mark of greatness. Simply put, he was a dabbler whose innate skill and intellect allowed him to excel. He was a rare talent who could elevate everyone around him.
With him in the saddle, a bad team became a playoff contender. A good team might have won a championship, and with an elite supporting cast, he might have forged a dynasty.
As it played out, he took the money, bailed on the Colts, stayed home until he got bored, then signed up for a job for which he has no visible qualification save for his name.

Again I believe it wouldn’t have mattered who was playing Oline with that guy.
He was a gun slinger that never gave up on a play he held the ball longer knowing he was gonna take hits but knowing that’s what it took to make the play.
No way to protect a guy that throws an Interception and then turns into John Lynch

He had bad luck with a couple of shoulder injuries where the pain stuck with him for 3 years (first injured his shoulder in 2015, didn't throw pain free again until 2018). Had that not happened, I think he's still in the NFL today.

As it turned out, he was playing in that game with a lacerated kidney.
But unfortunately, he didn’t have the fire, the zeal, the innate drive to compete and succeed that are the mark of greatness.

Bullfuckingshit, he had that in spades, so much so that he put the team ahead of himself to the detriment of his own mental health, which was eventually the thing that drove him to retire.

You'd have rather had a QB who had absolutely no mental investment in the game going out and starting at QB? Do you have any idea how much of a disaster that would've been? If he by some miracle avoided a major injury, idiots like you would've been calling for him to be benched by the end of the second game. Maybe then you'd've been okay with him retiring?
I wish it had been longer, but Andrew Luck created some great memories for us Colts fans in his seven years as the Colts starting QB. There's no reason to hate him, especially not 5 years later. Only a petty, spiteful fool would still be saying things like "FUCK THAT QUITTER!" at this point.

Bring on the single year contracts! Hell, might as well just have individual game contracts since tomorrow isn't promised.
No more hype videos / commercials featuring these players either, they don't have any responsibility to deliver the product that puts butts in seats that pays their bills.

I would have rather had a QB who had the decency to tell the team WHEN HE KNEW it in his heart (as several have speculated, following the final game of the year prior)- "Hey, sorry to tell you this, but I'm not coming back". Nope, he waited, and by all accounts, told the team 12 days before a season he was done. Leaving a franchise with absofuckinglutely NO alternatives and literally setting off a 5 or so year cascade of fucking shit (now 8 because we have the worst GM in football)--- ALL BECAUSE HE JUST FUCKING QUIT ON HIS GUYS!
You can tout his accomplishments, his greatness, his toughness on the field- yep they were all there on display and will live on in history.
NONE of those things changes the fact the man went to mid field, stood on the horseshoe, pulled it out, and pissed all over the shoe.

In 1964, the Cleveland Browns won the world championship.
In 1965, the Cleveland Browns made it to the world championship game, losing a close one to the Green Bay Packers ....... the first of 3 consecutive world championship titles for that Packers franchise.
The Browns had a young man playing running back by the name of Jim Brown. In 1965, Brown led the NFL in yards (1,544 yards, in a 14-game season), and averaged 5.3 YPC. Brown also led the NFL in rushing TD's (17), and had 21 TD's overall, just one behind what was the all-time record at the time (22, by Gale Sayers in that same 1965 season.)
In July of 1965, the Browns opened training camp, and Jim Brown was not there ...... he was in Europe, where he was working on a movie called The Dirty Dozen. On July 13th, a very antsy Art Modell called Brown and threatened to fine him if he didn't immediately come back to the United Stated and report to training camp. What was Brown's response ??? He said, l "Yeah OK, Mr. Modell. I quit football. I'm an actor now. Good luck to you and the Browns."
So 8 weeks before the start of the 1966 season ....... with the Browns coming off of back-to-back world championship appearances, and with a 30-year-old Jim Brown coming off one of the best seasons of his Hall-of-Fame career ....... Brown very politely told Art Modell and the Browns to go fuck themselves, and that they were on their own in their quest for a 3rd consecutive world championship appearance (in what turned out to be the very first Super Bowl ever.)

That's the inevitable thing. Other big names voluntarily left early, too. I remember having a hard time getting over Barry Sanders, still on top and close to shattering more records. Couldn't wrap my head around it then, but if you don't have the mental will, you're done.
It's like a favorite band you had when they were hungry and putting out killer albums. Then they get some success, they're in a different headspace... and the new stuff they write is shit.
