-Defense got wrecked by big plays. Bradley's D needs DL to pressure and no missed tackles. Guess what categories we shit the bed on today?

-Pass rush was non-existent. 0 sacks, 0 hits, I imagine not many pressures when they calculate. Lawrence was way too comfortable.

-Missed tackles... holy motherfucking shit. Especially on check-downs or short outs, we have them dead 2 yards or a loss, and then they wiggle out to get the first down or make it 3rd and short. Final drive included.

-Speaking of missed tackles, run-D was actually pretty solid... except when they decided not to tackle Bigsby on 19 and 65 yard TD runs. JAX had 42 yards at 2ypc besides that, but we broke.

-Jones and Flowers (I think) took turns saying fuck it to their rules. Got impatient and let dudes run right past them.

-Those four plays ^^ killed a pretty solid day from the offense.

-Offense still should've taken shots earlier to open things up.

-AD Mitchell needs to get his head out of his ass. They're trying and trying to get him involved, but he has yet to show any fire and toughness. It's the NFL, you're going to get hit, and the way the rules are now, there's no excuse to get shy.

-Pierce continues coming through. Glad to see him get the opportunities this season.

-RB's were fine. Each had a couple solid plays.

-Flacco was good. Once again, we've got a top-tier backup. Unfortunately, we need it because our whole team is injured. He had a Manning/Luck-esque comeback going until we missed another tackle. Shame.

-Fries getting hurt really sucks. Despite popular opinion, this dude was kicking ass. I'm assuming that's his season. Tucker came in and didn't shit his pants, so good.

-Nelson was kicking ass, too.

-Raimann didn't have his best game it seemed. Braden Smith got made love to by Walker. Ugly game.

I said it in the game thread. I fully expected a loss today. Thats not the issue. The issue is the way they lost.

Trevor Freaking Lawrence had 6 incompletions on 34 attempts. Thats bullshit. Trevor Lawrence sucks.

The loss today was completely on a defense that allowed Jacksonville to do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted to do it.

Colts right guard Will Fries sustained a serious right tibia injury in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars and will undergo surgery Sunday night in Jacksonville, coach Shane Steichen said.

This is yet another game where the opposing QB just leisurely orchestrated the offense at his pace with a clean pocket and GIANT fucking gaps in open spaces all over the field.

How many fucking 75%+ completion games does it take for the fucking coach, GM, owner, and every motherfucking fan that can see- to recognize there is a fucking terminal problem with the damn scheme of the fucking DC and to remove his fucking ass????

Field was sloppy so speed rush was ineffective and we have nobody that can bull rush.

Offense got too stagnant after opening drive and they waited way too long to start taking shots to Pierce vs that shitty pass defense

I can't confirm, but on the Jaylon Jones bomb, I believe that he was in zone coverage...so one of the safeties fucked up.

On the bomb over Dallis Flowers the announcers said that it was cover 1... Dallis clearly fucked up that coverage.

Dayo is the one DE that should be able to bull rush. Latu was either getting mauled by Cam Robinson or they we chipping him with a TE before passing him off.

Two words...
Tom Olivadotti.

Shitty defensive coordinator that Shula was blindly loyal to. Wasted Marino's prime as Marino consistently had to win shootouts. He never had the luxury of winning when he had a bad day. Shula's refusal to fire him was only ignored because Robbie was just a pig-headed in his loyalty. Whole organization suffered as a result. Irsay squandered Manning's talent, Luck's talent, and the trend continues all because he holds no one accountable, blindly loyal until the damage to the organization is catastrophic.

Chaos is spot on regarding Mitchell. Ballard had a conniption because people questioned Mitchell's shortcomings in YAC, making contested catches, lack of maturity, rudeness in interviews, and being nearly uncoachable. The kid better turn things around quick because the criticisms are increasingly credible and Ballard looks more and more the fool. And when did he become A D Mitchell? Thought he was known as Adonai. What the hell does A D stand for? Apprehensive Douchebag?

ChaosTheory

Another positive I wanted to mention...

-Josh Downs. He's a short-to-intermediate nightmare. Flacco illustrates that better than Richardson right now. Like with Minshew last year, we have all the pieces of a totally complete QB in the room...

They're just spread between two players. Old Flacco still has a better arm than Minshew.

You see that we have real WRs when Flacco runs a little more traditional style and is accurate.

Yeah, I’m not ready to kill the dude for that. That was a bad pass that he would have been leveled had he tried to catch.

I’m more irritated at the constant miscommunications with him. Seems like he’s always a step slow or slipping or breaking when he shouldn’t or something like that. It’s irritating.

I think if he gets in sync he could be a real weapon.

IOW, he’s not the reason they’re losing games. And he will get better.

It's truly amazing how that dumb shit still has a fucking job. He is a disaster. Steichen, for his own benefit, needs to stop being MR. nice guy and realize he can't win with a DC with his head up his ass every damn game. I realize we have injuries, but even without injuries, it's the same old shit. And Ballard needs to get his shit together too. Going with the status quo at the defensive backfield position is mind numbing. Right now, this is a very frustrating team to watch. Knowing the defense is going to get gashed and the only hope is for a turnover. Same old shit, different Sunday.

I think the most disappointing part of yesterday was allowing to passes of over 60 yards. Bradley’s zone is supposed to eliminate those plays. That’s why everything is always so wide open underneath.

Right. It was execution, not scheme, allowing those big pass plays. We had a nothing pass rush, allowing easy pitch-and-catch, which led to our CB's getting impatient and losing discipline.

That's not scheme. That's player execution. Likewise, the two long TD runs were completely execution. We don't have the tape yet... but apparently Flowers was egregiously bad ↓

Spencer Shrader is back on the practice squad.

o

(ONE WEEK LATER)

The Indianapolis Colts are bringing back kicker Spencer Shrader to their practice squad following a 20-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Indianapolis has made multiple transactions with Shrader over the last few weeks, always adding him to the practice squad. Shrader's action for the Colts was in week one against the Houston Texans in a 29-27 losing effort. In that contest, Shrader logged a perfect 3/3 on extra points.

While the Colts starting kicker Matt Gay is still 0/2 from 50+ yards, he's leveled out at 7/9 overall with 13/13 on extra points after Sunday's victory. However, Indianapolis isn't letting Shrader get away by putting him in the ranks again, showing interest in having a backup available. This isn't the Colts showing a lack of confidence in Gay, but more so an emphasis on the importance of being fully prepared for special teams.
