The good: Jason Bean, Jake Witt, Dalton Tucker, Nick Cross, Tommy, Dayo, Land, Olubi, all of the RB's other than Felton.

Bean just makes plays. The pick is really him not being adjusted to NFL game speed and a weak throw.

Jake Witt should beat out Freeland. Tucker should win a job.

Nick Cross has won one of the safety positions. But which one?

This DL depth, with Davis back may still be crazy good.

I like Olubi a lot. Hopefully he has improved in coverage from last year.

The meh: All of the WR's, other than Treadwell.

The bad: Blake Freeland, Josh Sills, Jelani Woods, JuJu Brents.

Freeland shouldn't make the final 53. Sill was bad and now injured and waived. Jelani should not stay on this roster. He makes no plays and is injured again. JuJu gets a PI call first thing and then is injured yet again.

Looks like Woods will go to IR with surgery on the toe. Question is will they use a return designation? It looks like Cross is likely to win the second starting safety spot, but we've seen that story before. The real question is can he keep it? Apparently, they're talking about rotating the safeties to take best advantage of Julian Blackmon, so it sounds like Blackmon will be playing free and strong at times, with Cross opening at the other position.

Thank you! I meant to include Matt Gay...but I had a brain fart.

I wonder how much was the kicker and how much was the holder. It was not Sanchez this weekend.

The holds looked good to me. But I'm not the kicker.

Should the Colts even keep 3 QBs on the roster? I like Bean too, but with Flacco is there a space for him on the Roster or would he go on the practice squad. And then you have Sam, who obviously has embarrassing pictures of the entire Irsay family!:D

Add Matt Gay to the bad list

He's one of the highest paid kickers in the league, but......

Afterranking 27th in field goal percentage (80.5%) amongst his peers in 2023 (min. 15 attempts), the 2024 season has not begun well for the 30-year-old. Gay missed two field goal attempts against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night, bringing the tally to three for the preseason.

So I kinda doubt it's the holder.

I agree. The operation looked fine to me.

They won't keep 3 on the 53. There is some exemption that 3rd QB can be on the practice squad and yet still dress on game day.

Reportedly the surgery went well.

Initial recovery timeline is 4 months.

Colts TE Jelani Woods had surgery for turf toe today, league sources told The Athletic.

Initial prognosis is a fourth-month recovery.

Four months from today leaves about three games left in the regular season for Woods to return.

Jordan Schultz first with the news.

Woods just never got off the runway. Reminds me of Parris Campbell. All the potential keeps getting me excited, but he just never plays football.

Today, Tom Pelissero has reported that the Emergency 3rd QB rule change was vetoed by the NFL Players Association and the rule has now reverted back to the 2023 version - the 3rd QB must be on the 53 man roster, not as a practice squad elevation.

https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1828105131340271940

Important note as teams construct their initial 53-man rosters:

NFL teams were informed that the NFLPA vetoed the revised Emergency 3rd Quarterback rule that would have allowed teams to elevate a bona fide QB from the practice squad an unlimited number of times.

So, the rule reverted to the 2023 version, which says the emergency third QB must be on the 53-man roster, not an elevation.

Allowing teams to elevate the third QB each week would have amounted to a sort of legal stashing, which the union doesn't want.

Of course, teams can still elevate an extra QB from the practice squad -- they just wouldn't get an exemption from the game-day roster limit.
