Former Dolphins DT Raekwon Davis is signing a 2-year $14 million base value deal with the Colts, per agent Trevon Smith of Athletes First.

This move gives Indianapolis another option besides Grover against the run.
The Colts didn’t have another DL who could do that effectively last season, really

In theory, Davis could play with Stewart on first down against certain teams, giving Buckner a chance to rest on running downs and focus on passing downs.
The Colts have been trying to take some of the load off Buckner for a while now. In my opinion, better to do that on run downs.

Seems like a good signing. Will be nice to have a quality backup for Grover.

Not an exciting pickup but it's one less draft day need now.

I'd still look at Khristian Boyd and Evan Anderson later on Day 3 as potential developmental guys who can be the long term replacement for Grover.

That 6-game stretch without Grover was a wakeup call for the run D.

Yes, it was ugly without Big Grove. Also, I never want to see Taven Bryan take a snap for the Colts again. BTW... Eric Johnson wasn't even as good as Bryan.
The details of the contract also show that we are paying this guy peanuts.

The Colts didn't have a NT outside of Grover. This gives them that. Good move.

Raekwon Davis time.
The Colts have removed him from the Non Football Illness list.
I am not surprised at the length of absence. The Colts had indicated that the high blood pressure was going to be treated with medication and from what I read, doctors usually start out with a small dose and slowly work their way up until the blood pressure gets in check. So it is not unusual for the process to take a month or longer to find the sweet spot.

Colts say they’ve removed DT Raekwon Davis (high blood pressure) from the non-football injury list.
He should be able to practice for the first time with his new team tomorrow in Cincy.

Has he been able to work out at all? Cardio for the big boys tough enough, replicating football cardio is tough enough...
Is he still weeks away due to conditioning?

Well, he has 3 weeks to get ready.

Well, he has 3 weeks to get ready.
That should be enough time to be able to be ready to play a few snaps here and there to spell Grover.
