Colts always seem to have trouble with backups. It all seems to have started with Tom Brady's first start in the NFL, which was against the Colts, replacing Drew Bledsoe.

CLE was mostly a backup QB. TEN was technically a backup QB, but Tannehill isn't coming back so I scratch that one. CIN was a backup QB and PIT was a backup QB.

CIN Browning lit us up. He played really well and made some surprisingly big boy throws.

PIT Trubisky didn't do well and got pretty beat up.

CLE Walker also didn't do much. This was actually one of our better defensive games. Most of the day, they didn't let CLE do anything. They had a fluke 69yd run on the opening drive and we all remember how the final 80yd drive happened. But that's only 14 points...

Minshew had an interception and three fumbles (one for a TD) and we allowed a blocked a FG which led directly to three points for CLE.

Somehow our defense had one of its best days of the year... and we gave up our season-high in points.

Our struggles against backups predates Brady. We lost to Gus Frerotte in '94 on his first start when we went for 17/32 for 226 and 2 TDs w/ 0 Ints against us.

There was also an unknown backup who threw for like 400 yards against us in the late 80s/early 90s. I thought it was Mike Tomzcak, but looking through his game logs doesn't look like it was him. Maybe C&O knows who I'm talking about?
