Neither have completely cleared the concussion protocol, but at least this shows they are advancing through the steps:

Colts HC Shane Steichen says QB Anthony Richardson (concussion) and C Ryan Kelly (concussion) are still in the protocol but will practice today.

Shane Steichen says Richardson will take all the first-team reps, like he normally would.

Colts C Ryan Kelly is in a blue jersey instead of a red non-contact jersey, meaning he’s at least at step five in the NFL’s five-step concussion protocol, which allows him to participate in full contact practice.

Last hurdle is being cleared by an independent doctor.

Isn’t getting through a practice part of the protocol that you need to pass?

I'm not suggesting Steichen would do anything that wasn't in AR's best interest, but I would not rush him back, I'd like to see him sit at least one more game personally!

I believe they will get tested through Saturday. They cant be too careful with concussions. This game ages a players body and mind.

INDIANAPOLIS — Rookie Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson and veteran center Ryan Kelly are practicing Wednesday, a significant step as they recover from concussions suffered against Houston two weeks ago.

Richardson and Kelly remain in the protocol, but the fact that they’re practicing indicates that both players are in the final two steps of the NFL’s concussion protocol: non-contact practice, then a full-contact practice.

Richardson will take all of the starter’s snaps in practice, another indication that Indianapolis feels good about his prognosis, even though he remains in the protocol.

The Colts also took the rookie quarterback to Baltimore.

Richardson was on the field during warmups, then spent the game on the sideline with the rest of the offense.

“It was huge to have him there,” Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen said. “He was engaged, he was excited when we were scoring and making plays, being around the quarterbacks in between series.”

And the rookie quarterback wasn’t just watching and cheering.

“He was helping us out as a coaching staff, the quarterback group, out, just with what he saw,” offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said. “When you’ve been out there in the huddle at the line, you see the defense one way, and you get over to the sideline and maybe you have a different perspective on them. He was able to give us a thing or two that he thought he was seeing a little bit.”

I'd like to see him be smarter about taking hits when running. Show me that you learned something otherwise this will be your last season.

The good news is that Ryan Kelly has finally cleared the concussion protocol and will play vs Tenn.

The bad news is that Bernhard Raimann and Kwity Paye are still in it and both have already been ruled OUT for the next game.

Both Raimann and Paye did participate in practice today with red non-contact jerseys so at least they have returned to the practice field.

Colts HC Shane Steichen says LB Shaq Leonard (groin), LT Bernhard Raimann (concussion) and DE Kwity Paye (concussion) are OUT for Sunday's game against the Titans.

C Ryan Kelly (concussion) will play after missing the last two games.

I wish I knew what specifically it is that these players are failing as part of the protocol after these extended periods. It drives me nuts.

Why do you need to know what they are failing and why on earth is it driving you nuts? It is a brain injury, at a guess they are still struggling to retain complicated play designs, or are still suffering with headaches or vision issues after doing some exertive exercise, if that is the case it is the same as someone having pulled a muscle and it is still not fully healed....is that also causing you stress and angst?

Now i could understand having cause for concern as to why we seem to have had quite a few concussions, and why have they happened? Are the helmets not as robust and providing the protection that is needed? But if someone is suffering with a brain injury then they shouldn't see the light of day in terms of any playing time until they are 100% healed, not 80% or 99%, you shouldn't be messing about with the brain.

If I understand all the players took a series of tests that are know to be affected by concussions prior to the season. They must replicate those tests post concussion to clear the protocol, among other things. Don’t fuck with young brains. This is just a game.

Why do I need to know? What is that? Why do I need to know anything, by that logic? I didn't say I need to know and I didn't say I deserve to know.

It drives me nuts in a few ways from different directions. For one, it drives me nuts the same way it drives me nuts when a player "has a hamstring" and then proceeds to miss months on-end. It's frustrating as a fan/spectator, naturally, because you want to see your team at full strength.

Then it's the unknown that naturally exacerbates that frustration. The explanations you gave are nowhere to be found when a player is out. I'm not even saying they ought to disclose... doesn't make it less frustrating to not know.

I could start a whole shitshow debate about the third element which is the broader situation and the NFL's response... but that's probably better left for an off-season thread.
