View Full Version : What worries you the most?

I would like to hear what all you Freaks are most concerned about going into this season. We have no idea what Steichen will put out there for a game plan (I have high hopes), will we generate a pass rush, what will the corners turn out to be, will Shaq play and if he does will this be his last year with us (next year his cap hit is 20 million with a dead cap hit of 8 million), can Raimann handle left tackle (I believe this may have already been answered) and who fills out the wide receiver room among others. For me it is pass rush. We haven't had a decent pass rush in many many years. The hope is that we get development of young guys. If we can get a consistent pass rush out of our front 4 we could surprise some folks as a pass rush covers other deficiencies.

O Line - specifically RG and overall OL depth. It’s a hell of a gamble with a rookie QB IMO. CB is easily the weakest position group on the team and will likely be the main reason the team loses games (other than AR growing pains). However it only affects this year and the team isn’t really competing yet anyway. OL has the ability to damage ARs development so it can have an affect beyond this year.

That Richardson doesn’t develop into what we think he can be.
It’s going to be rough. There will be games where he’s 10-28 for 90 yards with 3 ints. But as long as he stays healthy and Steichen is what we hope he is as a coach, I think he will get better.
I just hope the team Ballard has put around him is good enough to allow him to develop.
What worries me about the colts? The fair weather fans that poop their pants when they dont have a winning record. When the team lets a game get away from them.
Manning went 3-13 his rookie year with Faulk and Harrison. Next year they went 13-3 with Edge replacing Faulk.
50+ on a roster, and only 17 games. So few opportunities to advance. Compared to basketball and baseball, there a very few second chances if a team has a “bad “ game.
As to Taylor, I have no worries. He doesnt want to be here, then let him go. Too bad the Colts cant trade him to the CFL

Offensive line is my second worry, I have them second because there are guys on the line that have done it before and I am beginning to have faith in Raimann. Totally agree about right guard
I am more excited about AR than worried. He has shown me exactly zilch to worry about except being young. Everyone is young and inexperienced at some point.
I have a hard time believing that you are worried about the fair weather fans (are there any other type?) JAFF. Everyone on this board, anyway, is hard core. We bitch a lot but WTH, that is what sports are for.

Only worry I have is AR not showing improvement on placement and making the "easy" NFL throws consistently. Making a receiver reach behind his hip on an 8-yard crosser type of stuff. Windows are too tight to be off like that and get where we want to go in the future.
None of his mental has me concerned so far.
This is a house money season, so nothing else worries me. Just enjoy the show.

No worries
This is the best time to be a fan, the team is expected to suck and nobody is giving them a chance
Play fast play loose play reckless
With great expectations come greater burdens, I believe that’s what destroyed Andrew Luck, he let the pressure of trying to win consume him on each and every play

AR getting hurt.
This team is not stocked with high end talent. His best bet to keep D's from focusing almost exclusively on him, is being a whiny bitch and hurting this guys development. The O'line SHOULD be better but if they are what they were last year, if they aren't A LOT BETTER than last year (essentially the same personnel) he will get the living shit beat out of him game after game.
I think the guy has all the tools to excel, but there is a limit to how much damage a player can take and at the QB position that hit rate translates to not just injuries but the yipps. Many a promising career has been derailed by not having a good enough support system and looking at this roster right now, this looks like a low level support system which worries me. If he feels he HAS to get that extra couple yards to keep us in a game, over time that's gonna lead to an injury. Just the odds.

Injuries are my main concern. I think our starters can play with most teams in the league, but when a team has to replace a starter, the games can slip away quickly and easily.

1. Keeping AR upright and uninjured for all 17 games and hoping he develops.
2. The DBs. I only expect 4-5 wins anyway, but they might get torched so many times they lose their confidence.
3. The O-line. They need to perform or be replaced. Kelly, Nelson, and Smith need to earn back my love. Tired of those three.
4. The WRs aren't good enough. Maybe Reggie isn't a good coach? I speculated this last year (?) and y'all didn't like hearing it.
5. The GM not being good enough. It's year 7 and we've won nothing. Team is arguably worse than in Luck's rookie year.
6. Irsay meddling again. This is a lesser concern, but you never know with Jim.
That's about it. #1 is , by far, the biggest concern. Running QBs scare me. Every time I see Lamar Jackson run, I expect him to get injured. Maybe Luck traumatized me. I'm not worried about Steichen at all. Pretty much all of my faith in the powers that be is in him. Hopefully all the personnel changes, including the Taylor stuff, is based on what he wants for his vision of his team. At least it won't be boring like last year.

They make a pill for that.
The limp dick. Not the drinking.

My biggest Colts worry for the season is the OL. If they play like they did last season AR will probably get hurt and not make any progress.
2nd is the secondary. As Brylok points out they hopefully hold up enough to not lose their confidence.

1. OL - RG Specifically
2. OL- Depth
3. WR - Depth
4. CB - Depth and Experience
5. RB - Depth and Experience without Taylor in the mix

1. O-line. Same guys from last year, why, exactly, should I expect better?
2. A rookie QB who does not have the time to make the reads, then runs and gets hurt. (see #1)
3. 2ndary
4. Lack of pass rush
Jim Irsay.
Irsay will be fine. If hes behind the wheel of anything bigger than a golf cart, I would be worried

4. Lack of pass rush
1. They are healthy and seem focused. I prefer to be optimistic
2. They gotta catch him first, he showed in preseason he could find the side lines
3. Me too
4. I think its going to get better, dont ask me why
