I would love O'Cyrus Torrence at guard. Or the best blocking TE in the draft in Darnell Washington.
Either of these two would make our running game so much better for Taylor and Richardson.
Arggghhh I hate typing Richardson in regards the running game, gave me shivers thinking of Trent Richardson.
We really need some help at corner though, so DJ Turner from Michigan or Joey Porter.
Ideally would like to see us trade down to the mid 40's, hopefully Washington is still there, pick up an extra 3rd, package the two thirds to get back into the back end of the 2nd and maybe get one of the CB's, like Brents or Ringo.
The talent drop-off in this draft is high, and I don't see much value in guys after the end of the 2nd round. This is a really poor draft for both real top end talent and depth overall.

It's quite possible both Torrence and Washington will be there at 35. I'd be happy with either but prefer Torrence since we really need to upgrade RG, and this would allow Fries to go back to being a backup swing OG and Pinter to full time backup OC (maybe that's already happened).
Porter would be really good too, but think the writing is on the wall that the Steelers take him at 32.

With the names left, I want a trade down at 35. Players who I think would be good value at 35 (in order of ranking on nfl.com):
WR Jalin Hyatt
LB Drew Sanders
CB Brian Branch
TE Luke Musgrave
TE Michael Mayer
EDGE Keion White
CB Joey Porter Jr.
C John Michael Schmitz
CB Kelee Ringo
WR Cedric Tillman
OG O'Cyrus Torrence
TE Darnell Washington
EDGE Derick Hall
EDGE Isaiah Foskey
EDGE BJ Ojulari
C Joe Tippmann
With that much talent, trading down just makes sense. Maybe even twice. Picking up a 3 and a 2 next year would be great.

CORNERBACK
I thought Banks would've been nice for Bradley, and I started hoping he'd keep sliding, but the Giants grabbed him. Porter Jr. is built exactly how Ballard/Bradley want, but I'm not confident he'll be there.
Brian Branch isn't as long or athletic as they typically go for, but he's a good football player. They'd have to be comfortable moving Kenny Moore outside permanently, though.
O-LINE
I don't know who I prefer between Schmitz and Torrence. Torrence has more talent, Schmitz is just a better football player right away. Plus Schmitz could possibly take over at C for Kelly when the time comes and I've read people rave about his leadership.
But I like Torrence, too. He's a motherfucker in the run, but needs some technique in pass pro. If he could do things like quick set more often (like Nelson does), he'd look even better because once he latches on, you're fucked. Also noteworthy when analysts mention the motor of a 345lbs. kid.
He can be a little savvy, too. At 1:26 is one of my favorite 10-second clips of him. I fucking love when guys do subtle things like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5x2QAZGPtc
TIGHT END
I'm surprised Mayer wasn't taken already, didn't expect it. He's more well-rounded, but I still like Darnell Washington. For this team with Jonathan Taylor, and with this TE room, I just like Washington's prowess as a blocker too much along with his freakish athleticism.
Especially now that we have Richardson at QB... is some 13 personnel that crazy to picture with that TE room?
CletusPyle
04-28-2023, 02:40 PM
If the Colts get this draft right, and AR develops under Steichen...even he isn't a superstar, just a very good QB, this team is going to be a handful in the next couple of years. I know this team is better than what they showed last season! We had a bunch of guys under-perform last season that will be given another chance.
It is going to be a blast watching this team develop and grow over the next few seasons!:D

I so much agree. Even though BP didn't actually succeed at this early, he kept trying. Failures were EG Green, Jerome Pathon and Quadry Ismael.
But BP kept swinging, w/Edge, Reggie, Dallas, Stokely.
Just keep swinging!

His 10 and 20 yard splits are elite, as are his shuttle and 3 cone times. So basically, he's quick, fast enough for the first 20 yards, and huge with long arms. Just don't make him run with the fastest WRs on go routes.

Yeah, he's clearly there everywhere else, and I'm not complaining about his 40 time. I would just think someone rated 9.99 out of 10 would be green across the board, which makes me curious to see the formula and how each measurement is weighted.

Two smaller receivers the Colts have added now. Interesting.
It is interesting. Maybe it was Reich who pushed for only tall WRs.

Don't like Tyjae Spears to the Titans.

They'll get some tomorrow, which is fine for IOL. If they walked away with Chandler Zavala and Ricky Stromberg, for example, that would be a great OL draft.

Hope you're right. I do like Zavala.

Steelers get Darnell Washington. Hate that.

If they could get the tackle Dawand Jones from Ohio State and one of the guards, there are still a lot of decent guards on the board, with the two picks at the start of the 4th that would be great value.
I also like Zack Kuntz from Old Dominion as a TE prospect in the 5th.
