-Fuck Thursday Night Football. Short week exacerbates injuries, and when you gain even more during the game, it's a shit show.

-OL change was necessary, but again, short week hurts that.

-You have to be prepared for Raimann to take lumps. Two of his penalties were BS. Seemed to settle in. He needs his ass kicked.

-Matt Pryor cannot play OT. Put his gigantic ass at RG, if anywhere.

-The only reason I'm not ready to bench Pryor is because of how Pinter played in his natural position. Way better than at guard. I can only hope Pryor at RG might be better. But Ryan will never settle down with Pryor out there scaring the shit out of him.

-I said in the gameday thread: I don't know how to evaluate Ryan due to the weak spots in the O-line. Still bad until the end. Fumbles are inexcusable.

-Offense at the end and overtime looked way different. Got some running lanes and Granson, Campbell, and especially Pierce made plays.

-Ryan leaned on Pierce. He gives me hope.

-McLaughlin proved his worth tonight. 4/4, two 50+'s and a 48 yarder in OT.

-Defense deserved a win. Not perfect, but good.

-Buckner was a motherfucker and Gilmore iced DEN twice.

-Rodney Thomas looks like a find.

-Really sucks for Kwity. Notice DEN's run production after he went out.

-Isaiah Rodgers plays bigger than he is. Some good tackles tonight.

-Denver has to remind you of us. You know Russell Wilson is a good QB and he/they looked pretty bad. Granted, both offenses were up against good defenses. But it's not just us. Going to take some patience at best.

-Question the play call for DEN, but I would want my team to go for the win in OT.

I would honestly be giving Eric Fischer a call right about now.
I think we really should be looking outside of the building if this is the best we can trot out there after 4 weeks of football.
Pinter should start at C, Pryor should be an emergency backup at best. Hell put Q at LT, we are paying him that kind of money anyway

Seems like going up-tempo really works for this team, each game when we've had to mount drives, we've looked better when it's been faster pace. Seems like it is much more read and react than "do these 87 things in this exact manner and we'll succeed". Seems more improved, seems more effective.

But doubt dumb fuck for being the football savant we are all supposed to believe he is- can connect these dots.

This is a nutshell. In the two quarters of decent offensive football that our team has played, it was late in games when we needed to make plays fast in chunks. Ryan looks WAY better as a read and react timing guy as opposed to the improviser we are forcing him to be. If teams are getting free jumps at our QB due to suspect line play, why aren't we executing quick slants, screen, and dump offs on 2 and 3 step drops?
Indeed, it is literally like watching Reich play with toy soldiers as a special ed student and continuously run his little blue soldiers into a wall. His system is really showing it's limitations, and his inability to adapt to fit his teams strengths (or mask their weaknesses) is really becoming a thing. I think he has done just enough to not be fired mid-season, but alas his pink slips are likely post dated already barring a crazy run that results in a playoff birth which, given the crapshoot that is the NFL, is in the realm of possibility. This win was almost more of a loss because (like the KC win) will just kick the can down the road to making the quick and drastic changes that this franchise will need to make by seasons end.
Chalk me up to wanting Will Levis as our target going into this draft. Lets see if we can suck enough to make it a possibility.

Ryan is running scared almost every single snap, yet when it matters most he has stepped up in the 4th. every game this season, sans the jackoffs debacle.

Raimann settled in and played decent football. He will take some ass whippings while learning. To bad we have an immobile QB that can't escape some of the LT mistakes, it only magnifies them.

Our D is getting better, but last night was more of two very inept offenses then it was two stellar defenses.

Gilmore still has some serious gas in the tank.

Pierce is going to be a great receiver for this team.

For fucks sake get our tight ends involved in the game plan, even if it is an extra blocker until this horrible offensive line gets figured out. Get Pryor and Pinter off this fucking team.

I want to see one game where Ryan has a stable pocket to operate from to really evaluate him. Right now it seems every snap someone gets a paw on him. Inexcusable.

The more games I watch, the more I realize the only real problem on this team is the o-line.

Ignoring that Jax game where Lawrence carved us up, and maybe just calling that one part of the pre-season (really it seems Reich's teams are never where they should be in week 1, like they don't practice hard enough in camp), then ever since then the pass defense has been reasonably good, and is getting better.
The run defense has been excellent not counting when they were clearly gassed last night, and missing Kwity Paye (which is gonna suck moving forward).

The RBs are good, we really should have been giving more touches to Jackson over Hines, I still don't know what the hype is surrounding Hines, does he ever break tackles? All I ever see is Hines run up the middle for short gain, or Hines catch it and immediately get tackled.

The WRs are fine. We have 3 guys who can get it done, with Pittman, Pierce, and Campbell. That's all most teams have, the depth is depth.

TEs are coming along, not sure why we weren't getting them touches last night, but Granson looks so much better this year compared to last, MAC is still a reliable option, Woods has made a few plays.

Like everyone else, I can't get a grip on Matt Ryan - is he washed up or is he just shell-shocked and hurried because of how bad this o-line is?

Either way, fixing that o-line fixes a whole lot with this team.

The downside to uptempo is you wear out your defense if you don’t have sustained drives. You could always go to the line early and that makes the defense stay in their stance a long time.

I'm generally in favor of leaving the guys at their natural positions. So leave Kelly or bench him, but don't move to guard. I've rewatched some and I'll watch the 22 tape later on, but I don't even know for sure if Pinter played better than Kelly. He may have, but all I really know is Pinter looked far more comfortable at C than at RG.

Pryor is big and strong, but he is too lumbering for OT. Is he too lumbering even for RG?

Really, the Pryor debacle alone should be enough to get Ballard fired. It gets worse the more you think about it.

Hell, they signed someone last year when they had a young mobile quarterback. How in the hell he thought it acceptable to NOT sign someone this year with a 37 year old statue for a quarterback is inconceivable.

And then to give the job to a journeyman guard who had never played more than a handful of snaps at tackle?

Just pathetic.

There's no excuse for having no LT when you've had years to get a replacement for Castanzo. We could have just signed Leno from the Bears when we had the chance, but no, Ballard is too smart for that. It should probably cost him his job, and I'd support that decision.

That's the only justification I can think of for keeping him at OT and moving Smith to RG. That we ask our guards to pull or otherwise get downfield or out in space too much for Pryor. Smith is probably our best RG, but I think we need him at RT.

Hopefully they settle on a lineup over the mini bye. Try some stuff, yeah, but getting reps as a unit and getting a feel for each other is just as important.

1) i feel bad for ryan. i don't even know what he has left in the tank. he is taking a beating. he is a tough dude. this offensive line play is absolutely embarrassing.

2) pryor can't play anymore. anywhere. he has to sit. put Dennis Kelly at rt and go that route. or move smith back out at tackle and put fries at rg. pryor is not a guy

3) raimann at least settled in a little as the game went on. just have to go with him the rest of the year.

4) have heard the wr's are not getting separation. have not been able to see all 22 this year but it looks to be accurate to me.

5) pierce is amazing at catching contested passes. which is great if he isn't going to get separation. this kid has some real potential

6) where did the te's go?

7) this thomas kid may be something. not sure blackmon gets his job back easily

8) the broncos offense is almost as gross as ours. i think i may rather have ryan

9) at least there was a little room for the backs last night. get healthy hines.

10) what a shitty game

-Ryan is shell-shocked. Even if this line starts to hold up in pass-pro for him, he may not trust them enough to play well. He never looks a bit relaxed out there, even when he has time.

-Jackson should have been getting more run last night, he looked good. Fresh legs. But he also looked small and goes down fairly quickly after contact.

-AP emerging. Love to see it, and this might solve a big roster hole going into next year.

-Paris can walk. Congrats man, you made a play. Lets draft a young speedy slot man and let Paris thrive on the Bills or something.

-We need to learn to use Woods and MOE in the seams more. Two mammoths that continue to go underutilized on a consistent basis.

-Loss of Kwity will be noticeable going forward, and was very noticeable when he left the game. You can literally see the lack of edge setting when he isn't out there.

-Rodgers needs to stay a starter. He is an old school play maker. No question, and Thomas too. We have a nice safety rotation from what I can see.

-I like Zaire Franklin as a football player. He reminds me a bit of Anthony Walker, with a bit more range. He had some nice plays.

-Time to see why we took DAYO so early. He is healthy, has some run under his belt, and there is now a wide open gap for snaps right in front of him.

-What will it take to go get Levy?

My thoughts and responses:

Pryor - He's complete garbage, or at least he is now. He played ok last year at RG so if the FO/CS insists on playing him then it should be there. Of course he also played ok at his 1 start at LT, but I'm guessing he got A LOT of help from Doyle. Ballard should be absolutely ashamed of himself for handing over the most important spot on the OL to Pryor.

Ryan - if he wasn't broken when he got here he sure as shit is now. Don't know if it's b/c he's shell shocked from getting the shit beat out of him every game, but he's way too indecisive, holds onto the ball way too long, and is always double and triple clutching with the ball hanging out to the side. And both of his picks were horrible, especially the first one where he threw into quadruple coverage. As others mentioned he does look much better when we go up tempo, which if I'm not mistaken is a consistent theme under Reich.

Pierce - looked really good and made some great catches.

Raimann - settled in as the game went on. 2/3 of the holding calls were BS IMHO (although one of them didn't matter b/c Den declined it).

Jackson and Phillips - Both looked good running the ball, especially Jackson late. Hope the OL can provide JT with some running room when he gets back.

Gilmore - Total badass performance. No idea why Denver went for a TD at the end of regulation, but glad they did.

DL - Pass rush was the best it's been for a long time and they did a good job in stuffing the run until late after Paye went down. Is that b/c they're getting better or b/c Den's OL sucks? Guessing a little of both.

Paye - Glad to see his X-rays were negative. Hope he's back soon b/c we need him in there.

Thomas II - Dude looks like a player. Hope he keeps it up. Too bad he tripped over his own feet on his int return b/c I think he may have been able to take it to the house.

Refs - I didn't here them announce the San Diego TO, but it wouldn't surprise me b/c they were fucking terrible last night. As mentioned above 2/3 holds they called on Raimann were BS, the PI call on McCleod is one of the worst calls I've ever seen, and Ryan was hit in the helmet multiple times w/ no flag. Also, they need to stay the fuck out of our safeties way.
