It appears a deal is in the works that will make Foles #2 on the QB depth chart.

I guess Jim likes trying out former Eagles quarterbacks.

I hope nothing happens to Matt Ryan. Prepare for the memes...

This would be an excellent addition to the team. He is a mediocre starting QB but may be the best back up QB up in the league. He is light years better than anything we have at back up right now.

Agreed. Nothing proven anyway.

Both Ryan and Foles have SB experience, and if not for that dumbass Shannahan, Ryan would have a ring, and the Patsies would have one less. I will always like Foles because he kicked Brady and the Pats ass.

Why? You couldn't possibly rather have Ehlinger/Walker/Coan as our backup.

He was third string for the Bears last year....best backup in the league? He has winning experience (from several years ago), but that does not mean he is the best backup in the league.

According to Twitter it’s a done deal

Foles being 3rd string with the dysfunctional Bears, is in no way any reflection on his talent.

Nagy was a train wreck of a coach.

Pace was a train wreck of a GM.

The fact that Foles still loved football enough not to retire from that shit show is actually very impressive!

Foles signs 2 year deal to backup Ryan. Good move Ballard.

This is the move that makes me believe that team leadership believes that our roster is ready to contend.

You don't sign this type of deal if you still think you are a year or two away.

Still waiting to see the contract details.

Earlier this afternoon, some dude who contributes to the PFF and OvertheCap websites tweeted that he had a "source" that said the Colts were going to pay Foles $2.5MM this year.

Haven't seen any national pundits yet confirm those details.

Per source, Nick Foles will earn $2.5M in 2022 from the Colts. So the Bears will receive a $1M credit at the end of the season for Foles' $1M in guaranteed salary (pretty much a foregone conclusion)

In effect, reduces the total dead cap for the Bears on Foles for 2022 to $6.67M

All I have seen about his contract so far.

So we’ll have two quarterbacks on the roster better than anything we had last year.

Nice.

Nice luxury to have. I hope I never see him unless it's 6:00 left in the 4th and we're up by 24.

Here are some more contract details:

https://twitter.com/FieldYates/status/1529112910697488384

Nick Foles' 2-year deal with the Colts includes a base salary of $2.5M in 2022 (with a cap hit of $2.6M) and base salary of $3.5M in 2023 (cap hit of $3.6M).

Foles already earned a fully guaranteed $4M roster bonus from the Bears, meaning he takes home at least $6.5M in cash this year.

Regardless of whatever happens for the rest of his career, Foles will be able to say that he threw for 27 TD passes with only 2 INT's in a single season ...... that's amazing, even in this era in which quarterbacks and receivers are overly-protected.

Seems like reasonable cap hits for a quality backup QB.
