Man just had the pleasure of listening to Rick break it down. Said for 4 years now he has watched a high school pass defense scheme get destroyed in the NFL and he's tired of it. AMEN!

Maybe we should make him a coach. But first, let's just see how he's done as a coach.

It was that Colts wrap show with Matt Taylor. He is always raggin' on Eberflus but tonight dude was raging against him. He basically said if Frank or Ballard don't get rid of him, we have no way of ever winning sh!t. A sentiment I completely agree with.

They had a stat that on only 4.9% of Lamar's passes last night had to be thrown into a tight window (and he emphasized that the NFL actually keeps that stat). That's insane, 95% of his passes were to a player that was essentially unguarded.
This staff needs to go! We're supposed to have all this defensive speed and instead of using that speed to prevent plays, we use it to try to tackle after a catch. F that!

He also does the color commentary on the Colts radio broadcast for XM. Venturi been criticizing the scene for years. Every time he is on local sports radio.

Wasn't Venturi the head coach of the Colt's a while back, and what was his record?

He was one of the early Indy Colts coaches, he was terrible. Man those first 15 or so years were rough as hell!

I mean, we still had basically Blackmon and Moore playing alongside Chesley, Sendejo, Keyes, and Odum for the entire 2nd half, and even Rodgers was playing in the first half and he's not very good either. I don't know what kind of scheme Eberflus could have run that would have been successful with those players.
I'm not necessarily saying he's a great coach, but I'm just not pinning that 2nd half defense on him.

Hey, he made the jump from strength and conditioning coach to defensive coordinator in a very Robert Irsay move...
While we were left with a bunch of no-names in the secondary in the 2nd half, we've seen this same pattern in the 4th quarter for the past couple of years no matter who is back there.
Also, as a side note... you're telling me that Marvell Tell isn't better than the guys we had in there Sunday night????

Great post!
When the guys calling the game keep harping on the fact that you have to change what you are doing, and you don't, and you get roasted, for 31 of 33 and 373 in the 2nd half---- much much much more about the scheme than the players.
This is a theme, he constantly sits back in this pathetic zone and just let's guys get into easy completion pockets and build momentum. Whether it's Frank being too deferential and allowing Ebersuck to SUCK, or whether it is Frank directing Ebersuck to SUCK, the whole thing sucks and Frank is ultimately atop the totem pole of coaching accountability, therefore, Frank SUCKS!

My family had season tickets during the better part of that shit-show (1986-1995)... Got so bad, I had to leave the country!

I bought a Colts lighter in Nevada and the girl behind the counter laughed at me. Said she had never sold one before. Was a tough time to root for this team. Made Manning that much sweeter. His first year I'm watching a game and Manning was playing like a QB who knew what the hell he was doing. I was so damn happy after all those years I had a tears in my eyes. My loving wife "Are you fucking crying because the Colts have a QB you loser?" Yep.
