First preseason game is in a week, so I thought I'd ask what you all are expecting to see in a week. I'll start:

In a week, we will all be pining for meaningful football with Luck at QB.
In a week, activity on this board will come back to life.
In a week, we will see that Pagano is still inept.
Ina week, we will still have gloom-and-doom posters over-react to a pre-season loss and declare us out of the playoffs and fighting for the #1 pick.

What have you got?

I am most anxious to see how Hooker and Wilson look, along with Vontae Davis.

We really won't be able to tell much about the offense with Scott Tolzien or whoever at QB. But the defense and the secondary in particular has the most potential to make great improvement with those two picks.

Does anyone here still overreact to preseason games? I don't remember.

I expect to see a productive dline. I think we are should be solid at every unit there.

I expect our Olbers will be terrible.

I expect pagano to clap a lot

I'd say your right on the doom and gloom fire Pagano

I'll go with the good. .

1. Tolzien actually plays good
2. O-line will look good
3. Hooker will shine

the bad. . .

1. The cut Dorsett thread will begin
2. Edwin Jackson will outplay Morrison

I predict all of the above!

I predict

The good:
Andrew will return healthy and performing well but not til game 3
Ballard will fire Pagano at the end of the season regardless of the W/L record
Vontae will shine due to it being a contract year
Hooker will perform well
The online will demonstrate that their performance in the last 4 games wasn't a fluke and will be at the middle of the pack by year end

The bad:
McClappy will have Frank on a pitch count for the whole season to save him for the playoffs rendering our offense as predictable as it's been the last few years.

The ugly:
We will make Blake Bortles look like a football god in at least one game
We will make whoever the hell is throwing the ball for Houston look like a football god in at least one game

Sorry. Just realized the thread was predictions for the first game. Obviously mine are predictions for the wHole year.

I predict:
There won't be much of a passing game with Luck out
The Oline will look better and open holes for the RBs
Marlon Mack will look good/explosive
The defense will be a work in progress
The kicking game won't be nearly as good as years past

For preseason week 1:

Bad:
It won't be pretty on either side of the ball.
Expect bad QB play
Expect no pass game and a soft run game
Expect more than a few bad angles from the LBers.

Good:
It's only preseason week1

I'll be watching Mack, Basham, Stewart and Wilson. Hooker too.

Hey. At least Luck is already out and can't go down for the season in the preseason.

I'm excited to see if any rookies show anything. Duh.

This season will be win-win no matter what: if they lose, Pagano is out and Ballard gets some higher draft picks to work with next year. If they win, Pagano might still be out, and my favorite team will look even better in 2018.

I am very curious to see Walker at QB. He could be the main backup soon.

I'll be curious to see if Tolzien isn't as awful as I think he is.

Nice to see he didn't disappoint. We're toast if Luck goes down.

If the guy was taller, he'd be the QB2 for this team. Morris had the lone scoring drive, but Walker was just as competent. Tolzien looked like the less polished of the three and he is supposed to be the vet. SMH

I thought Walker looked the best of all. Put him with the first string offense and see how he does.

Tolzien looked lost, slow and confused

IDK Walker reminds me of woody Dantzler I think hes too short and his passes looked inaccurate to me

This may be a case of the tallest midget being the one who is actually a midget.

Oh I expected him to suck. He delivered.

Why the Colts didn't look for a better backup QB in the spring is beyond me.

Not to be a downer, but whom would you have signed?

Mike Glennon, Brian Hoyer, Nick Foles, and Jay Cutler all are making more than $10m for 2017. Just a bit outside our price range.

Josh McCown, Matt Barkley, and Landry Jones are all making more than $4.0m for 2017. Again, just a bit outside backup QB pay.

QBs over 30 (Ballard would have avoided): Ryan Fitzpatrick, Mark Sanchez, Josh Johnson, Chase Daniels, T.J. Yates, Dan Orlovsky, Shaun Hill, Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Whitehead.

The Remaining guys:

Case Keenum
Geno Smith
Blaine Gabbert
Austin Davis
Matt McGloin
E.J. Manuel
Thaddeus Lewis
Ryan Nassib
Kellen Moore
David Fales
Aaron Murray
Colin Kaepernick
RGIII
Christian Pounder
Zach Mettenberger
Keith Wenning
Dylan Thompson
Sean Renfree

Which one of those world beaters would you have said, prior to free agency starting, is heads and shoulders better than Scott Tolzien?

It was a bad QB free agency class.

Walk Worthy,

Walk Worthy,

Always can call Jeff George or Curtis Painter. All seriousness aside perhaps Kyle Orton, says he is retired? Have heard rumors?
