IMHO if the season isn't lost because of all the injuries, it is now.

Irsay wants more prime time games. This is how you get them.

With the preseason version, the NFL allows teams to say "No" to the circus for a few reasons:
1) if the team has a rookie head coach
2) if the team has been on Hard Knocks in the previous 10 years
3) if the team has been to the playoffs in the prior 2 years
Of course, the team could still decide to appear on Hard Knocks but they are not forced to appear if any of the above 3 conditions are met.

Only bad/struggling teams appear on that show. So we're officially bad/struggling now? Good to know...

We are a compelling story. Maybe that is it. Or Frank is on the hot seat, and they want to document the season.

Reich just signed an extension. He's in no danger. Remember this is the owner that kept Pagano much longer than he should have.

Rams did the show in 2016 and Buccaneers in 2017. Example of a couple of teams that did the show then had success right after.
Ravens and Chiefs have both done the show.
Cowboys have done it twice I believe:D

I think you’re looking at this the wrong way. It’s true that the preseason version of Hard Knocks usually focuses on struggling teams, and their efforts to improve during the preseason when hope is still alive and anything technically remains possible. Fans are starved for football at that point, so they are drawn to the show even if they aren’t fans of the team being profiled.
By contrast, this is an in-season version beginning in mid-November, just as the playoff race is really heating up. Football will be everywhere, so to draw interest HBO needs a team with drama. I’m guessing that HBO chose the Colts because they expect them to be in the thick of the playoff race, but not so dominant as to make a playoff spot a foregone conclusion. There would be very little drama in covering the Chiefs, for instance, and very little interest in following a team already out of the playoff race by that time like, say, Jacksonville or Detroit are likely to be. Add in the controversy surrounding the Wenz trade, the hot-button vaxxing issues plaguing the team, and some colorful characters like Irsay, Nelson, Leonard and even lesser players like Blankenship and Strachan, and the show should be interesting even to non-Colts fans.

We're a bottom 5 NFL team right now along with the likes of the Lions, Jets, Giants, and Jags. The NFL saw this coming. We're a bad team going to appear on Hard Knocks for a reason.

I think Colt's are a bottom 3 team right now, I think the Giants and Lions would beat the Colt's.
