Some good news. According to Twitter, Malik Hooker was taken off the PUP list this week. Now we need Luck to be ready for the season opener.

I'm beginning to think that isn't going to happen. According to this morning's Indystar article, he's only tossing tennis balls.

Going to take to build up the arm strength even if he is there. Might be some ducks flying around.

I've been keeping my expectations for the season low so that I may be pleasantly surprised. If Luck has a down year or misses the season, so be it. Get him healthy for the long term.

This link isn't working for me so I can't read the story but if you go to Colts.com and listen to the full interview of Luck he said very specifically that he started throwing with tennis balls 2 weeks ago but he refused to say what he was throwing now when asked. He also said he's regained the weight he's lost and that there's no need for Colts nation to freak out. Several times he said he's going to be better than when he was injured. All that said, he specifically declined to set any expectations on whether or not he expected to be ready to go game 1 or not.

Thanks for the summary. The link worked earlier, but I'm always on mobile so who knows. I'm trying to be optimistic about Luck being ready week 1, but that's a lot of progress to make in a 6 week window. If he needs multiple weeks or even the year off in order to get right...so be it. Get him 100% fixed.

Perhaps I'm being way too optimistic, but I do think he'll be ready for week 1. Or week 2 at the latest.

With a healthy Luck, I expect 9+ wins. With Tolzien...2 maybe 3. I agree with you though, get Luck healthy and ready. Regardless of how long it takes.

Seven games were all we needed to know what type of player Hooker can become in the NFL. At just 21 years old, Hooker reads quarterbacks like a young Ed Reed, and possesses ball skills reminiscent of Earl Thomas. The Ohio State product recorded an interception in three of his first four games. He can high-point passes like a receiver, and covers ground exceptionally well. The Colts haven't a had a player of Hooker's caliber on the back-end since Bob Sanders called it quits.

Tackling still could be an issue down the road, but his elite ball skills make up for any other deficiencies.
