We could play them week 1 so I hope that would matter

Yeah, from what I understand it’s an extra game we have to play but doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the last game we play

Ah ok. I missed that. Thought it meant the final game.

I fucking hate the odd number of games if there is not one neutral site game a season for every team. Home games are an advantage and with the drop to only one bye team it gets ridiculous.

The longer the season, the more important depth becomes. It would be nice if Eason could be relied on.

One of the reasons they expanded the practice squad from 8 to 16 players last year.

Yeah, part of that was COVID but part of it was also setting up for an expanded play schedule.

Being able to have guys at every position group on your practice squad now allows for more depth of which you are familiar with.

This makes too much sense.

The owners are going to use the players pouting about this to leverage for an 18th game in return for an extra bye week.

The NFLPA is a consistent joke but at this point I wonder if this is literally all the power they have. On a general level the players are much easier to replace than an NBA superstar.

The 1982 Players Strike was successful.

The 1987 Players Strike was an absolute disaster ...... and the union has not recovered since.

This has been my speculation as well. Eventually/soonish we'll have an 18 game season with 2 bye weeks per team and maybe/probably more games played in Europe, Mexico, and elsewhere.

Roger Goodell said that a 17-game season was safer, because most injuries occur in practice and pre-season games ...... he said that the NFL was "following the science."

Goodell is just laughable. If he would have just come out and said it was for the money, at least I could respect that. How does it make any sense to say a 17 game schedule is safer and most injuries occur in practice and pre-season games. Teams are going to practice regardless and you can hold out players in pre-season games. Total bullshit! It's not surprising that Goodell gets booed all the time. Should have left the schedule at 16 games and cut pre-season games down to 2 if most injuries occur in pre-season games. We all know it's about the money, just admit it fuckers. Having said that, being about the money is fine, just fucking say it and quit lying.

Are they going to increase team roster size? Say, 58 players instead of 53? That would make sense, so probably not.

The NFLPA is a poor rep for players. Only group worse would be any teachers bargaining association.

If you're talking about teachers,

1) You have no idea what you're talking about

2) Teachers are always working, because it's all used in the classroom.

If not, then nevermind.

Instructors in education cram 220 days of work in 180 student days. The admin wants on line learning and expect the teachers to figure it out without any training, guidance or help of any kind. On line instruction right now is bullshit. It all sounds good, until the kids bomb the tests

Except it’s even worse now because they’re handing out free money because of a pandemic, so nobody has ever experienced this. I work for a large company that’s been around a long time and they said they’ve never had this much trouble keeping the place staffed. They’re literally giving you a bonus if you get someone hired and they last 90 days

It was worse then to according to the 'elders' of my time. Medicare started in 1965, way bigger give away than 2 thousand stinking dollars. People who actually had not worked got it!! Imagine. Nothing changes except perspective.
